Just heard that with Roy Hodgson being announced as England Manager, the Baggies are looking at appointing Mr Appleton as there new manager.

He was Hodgsons No.2 at West Brom before taking the Pompey Job.

Is this a good appointment ??

Been secretly (not so now) impressed with him since he's come in at Pompey.

I find it hard not to like the guy. I think he'd do well at WBA

    Same here

Although I have been very impressed, I don't think he's anywhere near ready to take on such a job. He should pay his dues and carry on in the lower leagues. The Pompey job will earn him a lot of credits if he does anywhere near reasonably good, like he already has done - remember technically they easily beat relegation, even with most of their best players transferred or out on loan. He has plenty of time. The already touted Chris Hughton would be much better, right now, and he may jump at the chance if Brum don't win the play-offs.

Better than keeping Steve Cotterill, playing woeful football and still going down.

He's a good manager shame he is secretly voldermort.

If brum don't go up wouldn't be surprised if they went for hughton.

Maybe there are some solid rumours that I have not seen yet, but I'd be a bit surprised if he made the move to the Prem so early. It seems like a bit too obvious a story to write. If he has a good season next year with Pompey, then I wouldn't be at all surprised to see him make his way back up. Would be good to see some young new coaches make the move into management and knock some of the old boys off the roundabout.

Don't know why they're moaning...we started in League 1 on -10. They are better of than we were...apart from an enthusiastic, honest billionnaire owner, best Chairman in the world, good facilities, and an ex-PL manager. Mmmm...they may have a point.

Hughton's said he wants to concentrate on the playoffs, and to be fair, Birmingham have got to be in with a good chance of winning them.

Appleton would be a good appointment, but I wonder what would happen should Chelsea decide they don't want Di Matteo...

If Di Matteo doesn't get the Chelsea job there is no justice. Don't suppose he will though.

Got the sky sports news app on my iPhone and it flashed up on there, also it has a comment from the pompey administrator saying hands off

" we want Michael to stay here, absolutely. Hopefully, Michael is here for the long term. Birch told The Portsmouth News.

There has not yet been any approach and we would not welcome one. He is the future of this club.

If West Brom were to make a bid, it would be hellishly difficult because they are in the Premier League and he spent many years there. But bids are not welcome. Not at all "

So maybe he's not going then....

Very hard to leave the team in the lurch, but no one could blame him for taking a decent job with regular pay. Only media speculation so far.

I don't know what it is about him but he just irritates me.

I think he's a decent young manager, though, despite his negative tactics.

Who? Who said that? I know there are some tits who get on the managers back no matter what but the general concensus I've been aware of is that he's done a good job in very trying circumstance.

I couldn't blame him if he left tbh, he's been royally shafted by the higher ups of PFC. I would be somewhat annoyed though, I hope he does stay maybe.

I agree. He has conducted himself with dignity, despite holding the poisoned chalice.

That used to be any poor sap of a manager who joined us. Now I think Roy Hodgson has the real one.
