Just been listening to MoN there talking about James McFadden training with the club for a week with the possibility of signing him on a short term deal with as he said to add strength to our small squad and then spoke mentioned January.

Over the last couple of weeks MoN has spoke about January on a number of occasions and has mentioned that he never got all the players that he wanted in the summer and he may go back in for them and I also remember a week or so before the window closed he spoke about bringing a new right back to the club.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I am not saying January is the time, next summer could be more realistic but with us needing to add competition to the right back area as well as someone younger at centre back could Micah Richards be that man? I think he is the sort of player MoN likes, big, strong and the lad is pretty quick. After Manchester City's signing of Maicon on deadline day and with the hugely underrated Pablo Zabaleta both ahead of him (I know Richards is currently injured but cannot see him being ahead of these two) maybe it will be the same case for him as it was for Adam Johnson in that he won't be playing enough and that could end up costing him England capps.

After the Johnson signing then I certainly woul not rule out this sort of signing, probably next summer but if the lad wants to play every week like AJ then why not come to us?

I know this is far to premature but it seems MoN has already decided that we need to strengthen even more in January with quality of the squad pretty thin, for me Ivan Strinic, Moussa Sissokho and John Guidetti (loan) should be who we aim for in Jan and Micah Richards being the big signing of next summer. Would anyone else in the big 4 want him? Liverpool and Spurs have Johnson and Walker, Newcastle, would they spend over 10m on a defender? and I think they will be back in for Debuchy anyhow then who else is there?

I think Micah could start for any team in the league apart from City, can't think of anyone with a better right back than him.

I wanted us to sign Richards and was gutted when we didn't (check my posts and replies), I'd definitely go for him in January, even if it meant on loan, great player

hmm, think the problem with him is his consistency, he can be outstanding one week then cost the team the week after and I think thats why when it got to the business end of the season last year Mancini went with the more reliable Zabaleta and I think that would be a reason that would put off the top clubs.

You may be right, I rate him very highly though, should start for England imo.

I'd be absolutely delighted with Micah, he is a class player, big, strong, athletic, quick, good going forward & strong in the tackle.

I fully agree, he should be England's RB.

Maicon was a needless signing IMO.

think we would have to wait till the summer esp. if City are still in the Champions League then but think he could well be targeted for by MoN

Strinic, Sissiko and Guidetti (loan) in Jan

    and

Richards, Kjaer, McGeady, Marvin Martin next summer and sign up Rose, Guidetti and give Saha another year

    easy this manager lark haha

No chance of signing Richards unless its a big transfer fee and big wages

Zabaleta has only got a few years left in him and therefore will be the 3rd choice, as well as Maicon being ancient also

You honestly expect us to sign Strinic, Sissiko, Richards, Kjaer, McGeady and Martin all in one year? if it happens, by all means I owe you a pint but being HIGHLY optimistic there

I disagree, Man City have the money to go out and get any right back in the world apart from possibly Alves

its obv. Mancini does not trust him in the big games after playing Zabaleta when it got to the business end of the season last season

Is Richards going to sit on the bench and wait till Maicon and Zabaleta are finished and ruin his chances of getting into the England setup and making the trip to brazil for the World Cup

and as I have said with all the money City have who says that when Maicon and Zabaleta are past it they won't splash the cash rather than turning to Richards.

was being very optimistic with Marvin Martin, just signed for Lille and looks class from what I have seen of him, should be lining up next to M'Vila for France (he would be my fantasy signing) but no reason we couldn't get atleast 3 maybe even 4 of that 6 IMO as we are certainly after quality now and not quantity.

Ellis Short will finance MoN if the right player is there by the looks of it and who wouldn't want a shot at the premier league, Adam Johnson and Steven Fletcher are the start of things certainly not the end.

Richards would be a good signing for you guys, like Mush says, he's got a lot of attributes that make him a decent player. I personally rate Walker a better right back than he is and Cesar Azpilcueta (Chelsea's new RB) is probably an all round smarter player, for me too.

Richards had the world at his feet, big time, and blew it on a monumental scale. It was as if his development ground to a halt over night, we were all expecting him (even United fans) to be the biggest and baddest full back on the planet, he just looked so strong in every department and then nothing. He's still got a lot of talent, but it's a massive shame for England that he went stale. I'd be interested to see if there were any underlying issues to bring this on, surely it can't just come down to something as simple as him not trying as hard in training, or his ego. Still good enough for the Premier League, and would fit into most teams starting 11 as previously said.

I saw a lot of Azpilcueta in the last couple of years as I watch a lot of French footy, I'll personally be shocked if he makes it in the prem, didn't rate him at all for Marseille, we will see.

Anybody who wouldn't have him knows nowt about footy imo. Would be brilliant for us imo.

Could he be converted to a big hard intimidating midfielder?
