I'd go for Garry Rowett if we went down. He was doing a great job at Birmingham on a shoestring before they inexplicably sacked him. Just think Moyes has lost his hunger for the game now.
Aye we has this discussion on another thread a few weeks back about young up and coming managers and Rowett was mentioned then as well. The decision to sack Rowett was ridiculous, especially since his replacement was Zola whose been pretty useless everywhere he's managed - he's also proving to be pretty useless again. There's a root and branch overhaul needed at the club, which starts at the bottom and needs to go all the way to the top. It looks as if Bain has already started by getting rid of staff. Hopefully he'll carry on and work his way up onto the coaches etc., both youth and first team and see who is part of the deadwood and get rid of them as well.
It's a difficult one. I'm sick of sacking managers but Its tried and tested in keeping us in the division. We just need one to stick and take the revival into the next season (would have happened with Allardyce if England weren't so ****) Do we just stick with Moyes whatever happens even if we lose our next 3 games?
I'll give him the next two home games pal and if we lose than I take a gamble on a new manager with 10 games left
It'll be interesting to see if Short gets rid of the manager it took him 5 years to get. This was the man he really wanted remember. Let's see if he gets rid of him as quickly as he's done a few others the last few years.
So what? How much Premier League experience has Antonio Conte had? How much top league experience did Arsene Wenger have in 1996? David Moyes has more than a decade of Premier League experience yet he's taking us down. Howard Wilkinson had won the league with Leeds and managed at that level for years with them and Sheff Wed yet he did take us down. Its not about experience, its about attitude, ideas, and above all- ability.
Any up and coming manager would probably look at the Sunderland job as a poison chalice, our turnover of managers is horrific, not sure we would be the pick of many good candidates.
Totally agree Norton. All I was asking was who's out there with 10 games to go. I don't see Short replacing Moyes with someone like Rowett who's never managed at this level and who can rescue our season
