A place for all of your metal detecting related posts until such time as Mike has the decency and foresight to give Not606 what it wants: A Metal Detecting forum. Or at least Hobbies. And Gardening, let us not forget Gardening.

N.B. Anyone who posts porn or other obscene images on this thread is an unfunny ****.

Question from Hector The Rector Detector, The Rectory, Little Philspector, Kent:

Hector, you want to get yourself a pair of Magnum Stealth Force boots. They are airport friendly, comfortable, waterproof and tough. They are the same ones that cops and paras use and are available in 6 inch or 8 inches of length. This is the 6 inch version:

There certainly seems to be enough interest in this subject to warrant a separate forum. <ok>

    Finds Liason Officers <steam>

I've got about a hundred finds to record with the Portable Antiquities Scheme but when I saw the FLO in February she said she'd only take a maximum of 10 at a time. 6 months later, having not heard from her, I emailed to ask if she'd processed my finds and after 3 weeks got this reply:

At this rate I'll be lucky to get my finds recorded before I die. New season begining too, will probably have another 100 odd finds to submit by the Spring.

In the news twice in one day.

Metal detectorists find Iron Age Settlement:
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-devon-23733741

Ms Wootton (Devon FLO) said the important discovery should be credited to Mr Wills and Mr Hewings who had painstakingly recorded "every scrap of metal" they found. "Jim and Dennis have been absolutely first class in recording what they've found and it's a result of them being responsible with their metal detecting that we've discovered this site," she said.
