It's easier to cope with pressures when you're an adult.

well, a lot of it is low self-esteem, that can be treated. For girls, fashion magazines are the worst culprit for causing it, they're pretty much specifically designed to make women feel **** about themselves, and then write an article about the wondeful effect of 'retail therapy'.

There's more expectation on young girls than there's ever been to have the perfect face and body. It's constantly thrown in their face on social media and there's a lot of pressure on them to fit in with that.

Your thinking on this is thankfully out of date and very few and far between these days.

I totally get that the words 'mental health' are over used and seen as an easy kop out for some.

A young person dumped by a friend isn't suffering from mental health. They are just sad for a while.

I agree with the second bit. Not sure somebody would be diagnosed with mental health for that, though. I've never heard of that happening before.

    Pretty much everything.

The term 'mental health' is being used to often.

It;s distracting from the real sufferers

I suffer with mental health, you don't. We both just crack on and get on with things. I don't get your point?

Think there is a lot more known about mental health than there was 30years ago but also think that its very difficult even for professionals to decide where the line is between mental illness and mental strength - the former generally needs treating with medication whereas the latter can be helped by counselling and will generally improve with age as we grow more accustomed to dealing with pressure.
It is interesting to see how people are wired differently to deal with stress and how some people get anxious over situations that they have no control over. Been lucky to never have suffered from depression but seen how it affects my daughter and feel helpless not being able to do anything about it as a parent.

Without wishing to come across as insensitive at all but there’s always been mental health issues around. I would imagine that these issues mainly affect millennials as they have an unrealistic entitlement syndrome. Seems to have got worse with the invention of social media and recreational drugs making them paranoid schizophrenic.

I think it was Saffy that said bin social media, that would be a good start along with surgically removing electronic devices from their ears and get out there and live a bit.

There’s so many factors that influence it. My personal opinion based on my own experiences is that when I’m not expending energy I start to decline. There’s no cut and dry explanation of course, you could blame upbringing, environmental factors, diet, football allegiance etc and I’m sure a doctor will be more than happy to attribute it to that and push you out the office.

Is it over-egged? Absolutely. People are self-diagnosing now often by using internet chat rooms to jump to conclusions. It’s beyond pathetic. Its Naive to think some people are not using it to their advantage, it’s an easy cop-out and the country is packed full of tossers.
