Reading a book that's about the things we keep and the value we put on them. I've got a few boxes that I keep in my wardrobe and in these boxes and various things that have a sentimental value, a small metal box my late granddad used to use for tobacco, the first tooth of each of my kids, my sliver police whistle. Lots of things. I occasionally take them out and look at them and then they go back in the box. My most interesting item is probably a tape recording of a now famous singer playing his first ever concert at about 10 years old. Anyone else do this and what do you have?
My Mum kept our first hair…it’s Islamic tradition to shave the kids hair when you see fit asap. My Grandma kept my mums and I got my boys….this goes back a long way. I have my dad’s outfit that he wore to do the Hajj I have his navy blue blazer which was his favourite for strolling about when out n about looking slick…polished shoes n ****…box of hamlets in his breast pocket just incase the occasion warranted a cigar I have prayer beads and a prayer mat that belonged to Mum…that is all I need to keep her fire burning in my life
In all seriousness yeh I do. Have a couple. Personal stuff which no one here will give a **** about but means a lot to me. Some of my other half including things she wore at the end, some of my kids when they were little. Also a few drawings I made of ppl through my life. I open the boxes up now and again too. Mostly of my other half tbh... lots of fragrances, lots of memories.
Got a lil box with some of my mums ashes and some bits in, passport, bingo cards, her tobacco box and some jewelry. My dad's still about but I got a beautiful wind up watch off him he used to wear when I was a kid, glass front and back and you can see all the workings inside (will dig it out later and show yas) Few jail letters from a mate i lost years back. Bout it really I'm not a very sentimental guy really, not for things anyway
I've got Tobes in a box as a memory of when he used to post here back when Everton wasn't in a relegation fight.
Would have been nice to contribute to this thread, but sitting here I realised I have absolutely nothing of sentimental value. My misses keeps things from the kids and I do enjoy looking at them from time to time, but I’m one of these people that doesn’t like clutter and everything I own has to have a purpose!
I'd forgot about wind up watches . Bloody nuisance if you forgot to wind . Wish I'd kept my first watch that my grandma bought me . She was ace
