Someone made the point yesterday that, as a head of state (the Vatican City), he's immune from prosecution by the civil courts. As soon as he steps down, he's vulnerable to all sorts of claims from anyone who wants to prosecute him for his role in the ***** cover up. This could be a serious tactical blunder.
