Absolute legend, thanks for the service But time to move on I feel Http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/22444675
Wouldn't be surprised if DJ made a move for Heaton. Saying that, with Parish released, WE need a 3rd choice keeper. Newport might be a good move for McPhail. Not saying he'd not of a better standard than that still, but he could do some coaching and he wouldn't have to move house.
Remote - if you're thinking about Heaton coming back to us, he'd want a No.1 spot, not playing 3rd fiddle. I thought he was on the verge of signing for Burnley as their No.1 choice? On the McPhail front, we had a brief discussion on here a week or so back when we heard he wasn't going to get an offer from Malky. Class player in his time, but like everything else, time catches up with you, and when you've had to battle illnesses like he has, it probably accelerates it. Good luck to him - I think coaching rather than playing is his best option.
I'm a bit sorry for Macca, he pulled the strings in our mid-field for 3 years, some of his passes were sublime . He wants 1st team football thinks he has 2-3 years left. Can't blame him you are retired a long time in football. Good shout from remote, Newport could be a great team for him as you say, no need to move.
Tongue in cheek on the Heaton thing Sparkey. More than a number 3, he'd oust Joe Lewis and as you say is after 1st team footy. He could do better than Burnley who may do a Brizzle next year. A bit more serious about the McPhail to Newport thing though. Player coach 15 miles up the road, get his badges and on to bigger things if it doesn't happen naturally with Newport.
