Pretty good Q & A really and it shows that we are a pretty well run club and reinforces the fact that we are in good hands. We just had a really bad season!

Spot on. All the good work of the last four seasons has not been undone. We are better placed now than at any other time in the last 20 years IMO, bar arguably the beginning of last season. So while relegation was bad news, we are light years ahead of 08-09 and that can only be a good thing

Very interesting statement. In all the time McNally has been at the club no player has forced themselves out and by the sounds of it he doesn't plan on starting now which is good. Sounds like they're also considering a director of football

Exactly the sort of ´no hiding´ comments I´d have expected him to make, very open and very honest about the whole situation. I´m sure he and the whole board have learnt plenty from this, at least I hope so, and I´m confident we´re still in very good hands, with him at the helm.

honest assessment. the most interesting aspect of what he says is about management structure. it kind of points to a director of football coming in alongside a new manager.

    malky mackay and ian moody?

Agree with Bath and Supers that it points to a DoF. Hopefully that can help with continuity when we have future manager changes.

Sounds like that could well be right.

There's also a hint of "I shouldn't be making all the key decisions alone and shouldering all the blame next time" about the statement:
I don't mean that in a negative way - he admits he has made a mistake and he is big enough to accept that maybe he had too much control and needed checks and balances. That's how I read it anyway, not just that Hughton had too much power.

Textbook McNally, says it how it is. Though under the media spotlight this season he's been a victim of his words being taken out of context.

Comments on relegation clauses in player contracts are no surprise, but if that's totally accurate about our financial position, I get this sneaky feeling that we are going to oblige most players to see out their contracts. Judging by this, we will look to offload just Bassong, Fer and RvW presumably. Someone mentioned yesterday, I forget where, that there was a rumour we had agreed a sale for £6m abroad. Now I'm probably one of the few fans who still believe RvW could do a good job, but I would carry him all the way to Moscow if that's what's necessary to recoup £6m! Nowhere near as bad as the Helenius debacle if that's the case.

Isn't it funny how months of wrangling between Malky and Cardiff have suddenly been concluded when a vacancy has arisen?

It's likely to have an impact on how much compensation owed, given that a victim has to mitigate their losses

I haven't really heard of a club in this country where the "Director of Football" structure has worked that well. Seems to work in Italy and Spain.

    Do you know any Supers?

Talking to a fellow fan earlier today and heard this rumour - "McNally wanted to get rid of Hughton around Xmas/New Year, but was overruled by Delia and co!!!"

Hi bors, an honest statement from our CEO with no attempt to camouflage the reality behind our demise from the Premium League. Regarding him saying he would not hesitate to go if he stood in City's progress, that IMO doesn't arise, we all learn from our mistakes and in this case will make him an even better CEO.

This season has not been a complete failure, adversity is a good teacher and hopefully mistakes made will not be repeated in the future.

As always OTBC, said by many of our ancestors before us and despite the schism of this season still our battle cry.
