finally a out and out goal scorer...i just hope malky doesnt do to him what he did to whittingham and force him to learn parts of the game the useless untalented players should be covering.

A bit over the top - StoopidBlooburd might have a point. Square pegs, round holes and all that!

Agree Iggy. I think it does appear that Whitts is out of position.

Maynard is a very good signing for us, but I wonder what Velikonja and Smith think of it all. Malky will have to rotate this season to get the most out of his squad. I hope he is not afraid to do so.

That's what Malky should be doing, but he does seem reluctant to change the formation.

He has a few good strikers and fast wing men now, lets hope he uses them. Could have done with a couple of fullbacks as well, lets hope he manages to bring in a couple on loan.

Just because Fat Sam couldn't get the best out of him I think we've got a massive bargain. Rhodes for 5-8 mill, or Maynard for 2.5m?
Fat Sam will be happy though hes got a massive goal scoring lump to hoof the ball at.

    agreed.

Even if malky sticks to "kick the ball over the best midfield in the division" tactic, atleast now we have somebody who looks to run onto such balls.

If we see Velikonja in a starting line up more than a handful of times all season I'd be amazed. It's quite possible Malky has paid over the odds for a player who is not up to this level, and has had to spend more to cover the mistake. Reading paid less for Jason Roberts last season and it got them promoted. Velikonja was clearly not so much of a bargain at £2 million! Given this amount of cash DJ, with greater experience and contacts (and respect from players and within the game), could have built quite some side. Imagine him or Warnock being given £10 million to play around with. Promotion would be nailed on. I want us to succeed under Malky (or under anybody!), I just wish we'd had this cash to splash two years ago - I firmly believe we'd be in the promised land already.
