OK, this may not mean much to many posters but I'm devastated by another death today. Maurice White of Earth Wind & Fire was one of the most influential men in music. I've posted another tribute on Vetch's Musical Thread. This guy was a pioneer during a time when black artists were still struggling to make a name for themselves. He paved the way for many others, formed one of the most successful bands of all time and helped others make their big break.

Having seen them live, Earth Wind & Fire remain one of the best live acts I ever saw and even if black soul/ dance music was never your thing how many of us danced to this at Pandora's/ Barons etc back in the day? Another legend passes in 2016.

    RIP Mo:

Agreed, Dai. A very underrated musician I think. He stopped touring with EWF a long time ago but THIS is how to have an audience in the palm of your hand. Worth 7 mins of your time. So sad. :( Modern bands can only dream of having this excellence in their craft. The musicianship, the harmonies with Philip Bailey, and this was live too. Wow. The music lives on.

You can see where the great Freddie of queen took his inspiration from in his movement and working the crowd. A fantastic musician and entertainer...
