Alongside Charlie Austin I think Matty will be the one that scores the most important goals. He is the one that will get us over the line at the end of the season. He is becoming our game changer.
I think the most important thing will be to play him in his correct position (right-wing) at all times: he looked lost on the left but was a completely different player on the right. Got to get more delivery into the box. Must be frustrating for Austin, at times.
He's growing in confidence, he had a good game against Derby as well, was marked out of the game last week
But when he comes inside, as witnessed today, he can't shoot with his left. Although, I agree with you, but his crossing was not good today.
He has still got a long way to go to have gained the confidence required. A small step in the right direction, but he still lacks a lot of confidence.
I hope we will attack them, but feel that we will be cagey. 0-0 at HT and then get the winner. I hope I am wrong!
I have been a big critic of Phillips this season and IMO that was justified, but I am delighted he seems to be turning the corner. Safe to say from the highlights I saw he seemed to be at the centre of everything we did. However, he did get 2/3 very good one on ones with the keeper on the highlights which he should have done better with!
