Matt Macey on the bench today for Arsenal in the North London derby. I wonder if we get any dosh if/when he appears in the first team.
I bloody hope so. I'm hoping the days of these frigging Premiership clubs steeling are players (because they can't produce their own) are in the past now we have owners with financial clout.
The thing is though, who are we to deny a kid the chance to join the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea for example. If interest is made and the kid/parents want to go then bye! That kid will have better training and coaching etc. I just wish that its more fair with regards to a fee. Should be a standard 50% sell on fee involved amongst other things.
Or the sale of a player under the age of 18 shouldnt be allowed. Then a proper fee can be involved, not a bag of peanuts and an offer for a friendly against the development side!
They leave for the possibility of massive wages and nothing else we never use to lose our players to Prem teams I think if someone like Marcus Stewart was just starting out now their would be no way in hell that we would keep hold of him.
I guess Man City's number 75 got a competitive game the other day in the cup. But it seems a pointless career move unless they're going to play regularly. Most of them end up back in the lower leagues anyway.
Macey has a bif future at Arsenal. 3rd choice keeper and now 2nd choice due to Cechs injury. Wonder if Macey will start vs Hull this week in the fa cup replay as Wenger likes playing the back up keeper in domestic cups and Macey is now the back up keeper!
