After hearing of fueds between Le Tissier and Cortese, and apparent rumours that Le Tissier was banned from St. Marys, it seems Cortese has made up with Le Tiss, as Matty will be covering the game for Sky Sports tomorrow

I hope they have made up though, we need our present & past working together in respect of each other in my opinion

I was unaware there was any animosity between Le Tiss and Cortese. I know he was a part of a consortium that were interesting in taking over the club initially, which obviously never came to fruition. After that, as far as I knew, Le Tiss gave his full backing to the new board and was as happy as any fan to see the club pulled back on to the right path.

i THINK it came about when le tiss said pardew should stay, and then cortese released a statement criticsising former players (le tiss, benali), former managers (mcmenemy) for stating that pardew should stay

I thought the animosty was over former players taking the P*** expecting special privileges at matches - such a extra free tickets, free hospitality for their friends etc. NC was happy to accomodate them but refused to be taken advantage of

Lowe of course bent over backwards to brown-nose any guests at St Marys. He of course, even offered Clive Woodward a performance director role and £750,000 a year... lovely

Cortese is a different kettle of fish, thank goodness!

It's not clear if Matt will be at St Mary's or merely monitoring it in the studio as he has done before. The mention of Stelling suggests he's studio-bound. I'm sure he's not banned at St Mary's as such, but I don't think Cortese is his favourite person. The most recent spat, probably just media hyped, was Tiss complaining he couldn't get a batch of tickets for the ManU game. Think he been approached by some friends/colleagues, made promises, then couldn't deliver.

Matt was at the Players' Awards Dinner at St Mary's in May. He was there on the table with Lawrie Mac, and Nicola Cortese was also there, but on a different table. So, if there is a little friction, it is not getting in the way of any cordiality.

If Cortese does have an issue with Le Tiss, he is clever enough to be as coy about it as possible. Any public knowledge of a spat, will of course turn fans against Cortese, such is the magnitude of Le God's legacy.

Matt is rightly a footballing god in Saints' fans estimation, but Cortese walks on water as well. At the moment, I'm pretty sure most fans would side with NC unless he's actually caught drowning kittens (and even then the kittens probably deserved it<laugh>).

Murdoch paper trying to fill some page-space; however, you are correct CambSaint; there was some 'reported problems' with Le Tiss expecting more matchday tickets that was deemed reasonable. Not that I would put any omportance to that spat continuing thereafter. Lazy journalism once again....

Not sure we can compare NC with Le Tiss . Cortese has done well and is the man of the moment but Le Tiss kept us in the top flight for many years. Without his "unbelievable" moments we would have probably hit League 1 ten years prior and it's important to remember this as time fades! I'm sure many fans will remember their fave Saints moments containing Le Tiss magic.

Without Le Tiss we would have struggled to stay in Prem as long as we did and he will always be our hero, but without NC (and Markus) the club would have ceased to exist. If you need a penalty taken no contest, but if you need a safe pair of financial hands...

    its much more than that.

several of the club "legends" including le tissier and lawrie mac were receiving hundreds of thousands of £££'s in "ambassadorial roles" from the club despite appearing to be doing nothing for the money. how they could profess to love the club and yet take such huge amounts out of it when we were in such financial trouble is beyond me. when cortese came in, he stopped the leeches getting their money and so they started throwing their toys out of the pram. since then they have continually gone to the press badmouthing nicola. at least he has stayed professional and kept his mouth shut.

Thanks for that Jen - I had heard that there we some hangers on that NC had to deal with - I had also understood that Le Tiss was an 'ambassador' for the club; did not connect him as one of the backstabbers - certainly had heard about Lawrie Mac had sharpened his knife because he was hoping to get a foot in the door after RL had been dumped. Still; behind us now.

Will take the opportunity to write how impressed I am with the professional attitude of NC; football in general could do with more characters like him; in clubs, in the FA and certainly in FIFA. We are blessed with a great chairman and a talented manager.

Yes the attitude of NC is spot on. Professional to the last.

As for LAwrie Mac and MLT, they are not completely ostracised as they were at the awards dinner.

Le Tissier works for Sky and is the obvious choice to cover a Saints match. He is not there as an invitation by the club. Whilst Le Tiss has been vocal at how he has been treated in terms of tickets by the club last season I don't think it's anything more than a difference of opinion which i'm sure a lot of fans have difficulty siding.

I do think it's an interesting article though on Guernsey and very ambitious of them to join English football, especially at the expense involved which will surely see them operating at a loss for a very long time, even if they do get quick promotions.

I would also been intrigued to know at what level they would stop having to pay for the oppositions transportation costs as even League one and League two sides would want a subsidy. Best of luck to them.

I'm afraid I just can't agree with you. Le Tiss is a true legend, who became a hero out of loyalty and class, over a number of years endearing himself to saints fans. I don't think cortese is as close to the fans hearts as Le Tiss was/is.
