The Swansea manager seems to have dropped a big clanger here. Don't see how the FA can allow him to get away with that statement. He could be in hot water!

He's obviously seen a few suitcases in his time!

    What should the FA do?

The FA should do nothing. He's done nothing wrong. All he's done is voice his opinion. It won't happen in this country but it's not match fixing. It just gives teams extra incentive to win a match. I don't agree with it though.

What's he said that's wrong? I don't see a problem with that, I'm with Laudrup here.

Not the best thing to be spouting about... anyway what's the latest on Lundekvam spot fixing claims? It was in the air for about a couple of weeks and now it's vanished...

I think if I were managing a team and someone offered me money to WIN a game, I would think they were nuts. The question "what the hell do you think we try to do anyway???" would kinda pop in there!

Obviously you have a point but the more incentive the better. Why do you think most contracts have win bonus payments in them?

very massive difference between the club paying a win bonus and an outside club paying one - I would find that extremely insulting

If it was paying to lose matches that is a completely different situation but still probably best to have said nothing!

I'm amazed some of you don't see the problem with this.

Imagine if we were playing our last game of the season, needing a point to survive, against a team that is safely in mid-table with nothing to play for, you'd feel pretty confident wouldn't you? But if they've been offered say £5 million if they win the game by another team that stands to benefit from our relegation, that changes the situation completely. They are going to be much more committed than they would have been.

It is against the rules and so it should be. I don't think Laudrup will be punished though as like tomw19 says he's only saying what he thinks, not admitting to having done this.

Not in all countries. FIFA haven't banned it so countries like Spain are free to do it unless their national FA bans it, like in England.

Think it show's very poor judgement. He'll no doubt blame a dodgy interpreter! Some will; say there is no smoke without fire!

It's not match fixing. A team playing to their best ability is not cheating.

Nobody's suggesting that. They're suggesting that inducing them to play better by financial incentives is cheating. And it is.

The title of the thread suggests match fixing. A team will only play as well as their ability lets them, no other external factors come into it. I don't see it as cheating. I would prefer it not to happen but still i don't see it as cheating.
