Delighted with the win last night, but not happy with Sordell's typical cameo when he came on. For those who missed it, a couple of touches, a couple of half hearted attempts at headers, and no tracking back. I noticed when the ball was back passed to Turnbull in the Donny goal, Sordell closed him down with the speed of an arthritic tortoise. He had only been on the pitch for 3 mins.

    Not only do I find Sordell a thoroughly lazy and disreputable footballer - according to last night's programme he has scored one goal in 15 appearances for us, I am staggered at his apparent lack of interest in the profession that pays him so well. He is nicking his wages off us ! On his Twitter page Sordell describes himself as follows;

Pro Athlete. Entrepenuer. Creative Mind. Kitchen Magician. Team Cheeks. Co-owner @ShopEitherside. For media/commercial [email protected]
Wherever the ball takes me • shopeitherside.co.uk

Putting aside the sheer moronity of this description, don't you love the bit about "wherever the ball takes me" .....how about back to Bolton in January.

Marvin Sod-all - Chris Powell's worst EVER signing. Fact. <yikes>

our tactics rely on someone like church closing down the goalie and the defenders. when sod-all came on yesterday i said to my gf "hang-on, we're about to throw this away". he's just so bloody lazy. the crappest of players will run towards the ball. i wish he even did that!

i'm all for giving someone a chance. but look at how cameron stewart composes himself compared to him. leagues apart.

We require a work-horse up front and was delighted for Church last night that his tireless industry was rewarded with a goal.

It is clear that Sordell has no interest in playing for us, or anyone I would imagine from his body language. We should send him back in Jan and either try another loan signing or continue to blood Pigott.

I though that last night - better to give Pigott some game time & experience.

I was thinking last night we're a lil unlucky with our two new Strikers...

Simon Church: Can run all day put effort in for the team and yet cant finish
Marvin Sod-All: I reckon can finish quite well yet cant be bothered to make the effort.

If just one of those two guys (Would prefer it to be Church as love his attitude) could gain the other attribute then we'd have a hell of a Striker up front with Yann!!

Lets put this to the test.... And I mean this I WOULD RATHER HAVE PAVEL ABBOTT THAN SORDELL

But i always liked Abbott, but still, he's much better than Sordell, least he made an effort.

I don't how many times I have typed this, but I will do so again: Pavel Abbott is the worst 'striker' I have ever seen in a CAFC shirt.

Marvin is pushing him all the way, though.

Bring back Kim Grant, I say.

Barry Endean, Billy Landsdowne, Mike Small, my nom da plume, Ackpoo Sodje are all worst than Pawel Abbott.

Barry Endean, billed as the "Northern Scoring Machine" (and managed it once in a season for us)! Didn't he arrive from Watford with Dennis Bond (skilful but far too fat)?

Never saw Lansdowne play for Charlton, but saw him play in Sweden for Kalmar, my then gf's club. He was a big hero out there.

Agreed. Very discouraging for Pigott to have that pretentious prat preferred to him.

Akpo always has a place in my heart after he ran for 70 minutes up front on his own when we were down to 9 against Swindon, and he basically crawled off at the end <3

Absolutely! One of my favourite memories from the last few years "darn ahr grahnd". Just shows what a bit of effort can do! Sodall can Sod off. I was quite excited when we signed him but he is the fans equivalent of premature ejaculation. I suspect CP thought he could "do a Yann" with him but fraid not. Get him gone. (Sod all that is for the avoidance of doubt).

I do worry about church. Admittedly I've not seen a lot of games this season but from what I see he gets 12 out of 10 for effort but is basically useless. Harsh maybe, but I remain to be convinced.

Oh and by the way, Izale McClown is the worst I have ever seen in a Charlton shirt despite the copious number if competitors for that badge of honour.

I wouldn't worry that much about Church. He seems to be developing a knowledge of how Yann plays the ball and seemed to latch onto most at the first attempt yesterday. Now that he is receiving the ball cleanly his confidence will come with putting together the end product. It looked much better yesterday than on previous occasions and should get better. He has a strong engine and put in a significant shift last night, getting back to cover and then sprinting to take the pass forward. It would be interesting to see the stats but he was so close to getting three last night that he must ache.

Akpo sodje even did an up and under to himself in the famous Swindon Christmas cracker.
I liked Akpo can't fault his effort.
Martin Pringle was pretty crap as I recall

Church was a good signing for us considering we cannot afford the McCormacks and Austins. The comparison with Gary Nelson is valid. At the moment he just has too much to do on his own. Put a fit Kermorgant alongside him and he will get twelve a season plus occupy defenders and let others in to score.

Hey, I welcomed Sordell as a great signing in the summer. That's why I'm on here and not managing the Addicks! ;-)

The Addicks manager welcomed him as well! It seems pretty obvious that Sordell will be heading for the exit door ASAP. The fact that we can't send him back until January (if that is the case), should not mean that we have to play him. Surely he can be given gardening leave?
