Martin Cranie signed for Barnsley today. NW described him as a squad player, which is what I would have called, Norris, Green, Drury and Varney - Surprised we let him go without offering a contract considering the shortage of squad depth or do you think he wanted more guaranteed first team action?

Don't know why we didn't sign him but I'm glad we didn't. We had too many squad players under Grayson, those who were not quite good enough for a starting place but were ok filling in now and again. I'd like to see any future signings first team quality, eventually the likes of Norris, Green, Varney etc would become our good, solid and reliable squad players.
Too many average signings like Cranie would result in too much deadwood taking up wages and we'd be unable to move them on. We've just got rid of a load of garbage, let's not go down that road again.
I'd rather see us bring in two or three PL loans, committed to the cause and with a point to prove. No more Andros Townsends though.

The issue is LiE that while prem loans can be awesome acquisitions, they are often not as commited to the club and are in it purely for themselves ie. Andros Townsend.

Would like us to get Shelvey on loan though if he was going or perhaps a winger

Yes I realise that Josh, that's why I wrote 'committed', and no Andros Townsends <ok>

Sanchez Watt had a good attitude when he was with us, though I'd hope for someone better. Good shout on Shelvey <ok>
