Here is what he had to say. He seems to say he has had a few problems with his head after getting the sack from Notts County. Seems like he's sorting it out though http://www.gillinghamfootballclub.com/news/article/martin-wins-lma-award-829644.aspx
He walked in to to the Priestfield with his eyes on fire and talked with his chin up, Martin the Messiah He would not accept anything that was not the very best nothing on this earth could sidetrack him from his single minded quest A strange smile worn upon his face sometimes masked his true devotion to lead us to a better place as champions in promotion When the great day came at last the crowd sang Hallelujah! Halleluiah! for each one of us would dance the Last Waltz with our Mad Dog Messiah.
Very happy that he has won it, knew he should win it but thought he may get overlooked and that Phil Parkinson or Micky Adams may win it but he has won it and I am very happy for him.
