Having just watched Woking beat Luton in a very good display, my attention wasn't ever far from Marriott though out the game due to his very short spell at the Gills earlier in the season. Also, I couldn't help but compare and contrast Marriott and his replacement Pigott, having been at the game this weekend the best possible way to describe pigott was anonymous. Looked out of his depth and a bit lost though out the half till taken off at half time but when watching Marriott his movement looked sharp and lively up front. Yes there is a difference between the two opponents (Bradford and Luton) but Luton are strolling there way to the title and Bradford are mid table like us so its hardly Premier League and Sunday league! I know some people may question why I even raise this issue seeing as its not like we can get Marriott back but I assume when Taylor signed Pigott it was to be like for like but simply he isn't quite as good and almost think Taylor picks him simply because of what he could be rather than actually turns in. Maybe its worth looking to Birchall if we need another small nippy striker? Cody and Bayo have to be the first choice partnership till Keds gets back in the picture but maybe its worth putting goals in the non-league above goals in reserve leagues? I don't know, good for thought at least! (Also if people criticise Bayo for carrying too much extra weight McNulty for Luton looks like a keen kabab enthusiast as well!)
I think Pigott was signed to try and plug the gap for Keds until he returned from injury. He's hardly seemed to impress down here though and I would rather see German or Birchall tried than Pigott. Even if I did once play against Joe in an Under 12s tournament
I just don't see the point of the signing of Pigott. I don't see what he adds to the team and would rather play Birchall. Just seems stupid that we did not play Marriott and that we persist to play Pigott when we could have had Marriott in the team. Although Marriott is a lot different I still feel that he would have add more to the team than Pigott does.
