You either love them or loathe them. There are players who everyone agrees is usually good, with the odd duff game. Then there's those who everyone agrees is duff, with the odd good game. But there's also those who, after a game, will be given 8/10 by one fan, yet 2/10 by another! Our current 'Marmite' player is Matty Taylor. Read any of the other sites and opinions vary from quality player to load of rubbish. Can you think of any other 'Marmite' players, either past or present? For many David Beckham was one such player, and over the river Lee Johnson had fans at one another's throats!
Richard Walker divided opinion a bit, but nobody could argue with the number of goals he scored, and important ones at that. Darryl Duffy also comes into the 'marmite' category for me.
Ellis Harrison I personally think that he is a good player that could turn into a real quality player but I have heard supporters say they wouldn't even have him on the bench because he is not good enough
Chris Lines and Marcus Browning always got undeserved stick. Interesting that they're roles were very similar.
Darryl Duffy didn't do it for me. His inability to convert one-on-ones and the way he trudged back in an off-side position when an attack broke down really got my goat. Marcus Browning was another one I didn't 'quite get'. More recently there's David Clarkson, who I really rated, but many didn't.
Gary Waddock and Worrell Sterling (going back a few years mind!) I like this thread p49. But at the same time I know it will annoy me because I will be thinking about this all night. So you could say it is a bit of a "marmite" thread for me
Along with Duffy, Jo Kuffour was a frustrating player for me. He played really well when with Heffernan but didn't impress when with Duffy or anyone else. How about Riordan? I know Bluebaldee loved him but I didn't.
I can see why Jo Kuffour could be frustrating, but I loved him. Andy Williams is probably the most frustrating player I've seen at the club actually. Always promised a lot and provided a couple of memorable moments but didn't deliver anywhere near often enough. And as for O'Toole, I couldn't stand him, whether he scored for us or not.
Saved a penalty how many of the twenty five shots did he miss. the reason we lost is because we don't score goals not because the keeper makes one error,
And I don't think it was an error. Any goalkeeper would struggle with a shot that swerved as much as that.
GASHEAD79 its easy to blame the G/K for the defeat, most supporters have been saying all season that we need a striker who can consistently score goals, DC said back in the summer before the window closed that we were looking for a G/K and 2/3 outfield players including a striker which we still haven't got. We were relegated because we didn't score enough goals, we came back into the league because our defence was solid we went up through the playoffs because we drew matches when we couldn't find the killer goals to win games and we got dumped out of the cup on Sunday for the same reason. Please NH find some funds for DC to sign the player that will provide goals to win matches and bring some excitement back into our games otherwise a top seven finish will be just another dream that fades away as the season progresses
