    Finally! Some spark!

He was not on for long but Markovic looked awesome tonight. Quick, confident, fired up. He gave us the fire we needed. Unfortunately he got sent off unfairly.

He also had a good cameo v Sunderland at the weekend.

It looks like Markovic is finally fit, fired up and ready to come good!

If he can build on this he could be a key weapon for the remainder of the season.

Not sure one half decent run where no one closed him down against Sunderland counts as a good cameo...

But he was good tonight when he came on compared to the gash that was on the pitch. Shame he's clearly stupid as anyone who thinks putting their arm out like that, even if a harsh red, evidently isn't very bright.

TBF players wave arms out in every game. 9.9 times out of 10 its not a red. The Basel player dived to trick the ref.

  5. He did look awesome in his brief ten minutes tonight. Looked very fired up with a point to prove. If we get that Markovic more often (minus the red card) he'll be a very good addition. However, that performance was the rarity so far this season

It wasn't a red but equally, wtf was he doing with his arm?

Never said otherwise. It was a dive, it shouldn't have been a red. It was, however, incredibly stupid. Why even bother putting your arm up that high? What was he hoping to achieve in a game where players love to go down under minimal contact? It was just plain stupid.

He did okay - then got himself sent off, albeit harshly.

He could do with a run in the team to settle in - but will he get it?

    Will he ****.

This is the same as my thought. Solid midfield, Coutinho free, pace ahead.

thought it was a brilliant cameo. Glad he played with some 'Balls' for a change.

Such a shame he got sent off, and in that manner.

The lad finally showed us what he can do - Rodgers should give him more minutes to build that confidence.

That is definitely an attacking side which I would love to see. Would play it as a diamond with Sterling and Marko up top.

Your deluded. He came on, ran at them with no idea what he would do with the ball once he'd reached the fecking touchline which is where he had pointed himself. All bluster and no end product this one. And no fecking footballing brain either, no idea how to distribute the ball after he's done his hi-energy stuff and also lashing out at opposition players rashly. I mean, why did he even do that there was no fecking need the player was metres away from him and he was running away from him. You raise your hand to a players face like that there's liable to be only one outcome. Yeah there was barely any contact but thats not the point, the guy has got a terrible temperament, it was premeditated because he looked back at the player twice before swatting his hand in his direction. Stupid stupid stupid. Just don't react mate, don't react.

Probably because we took the only player that had any chance of winning a header off at the same time we brought him on! We put in more crosses in the 2nd half with Sterling playing centrally than we did with Lambert. Can't blame the wingers for that...

There were twice when Markovic got the to byline and had to put in a cross and he did well trying to cut it back and lower to give the players a chance. Other time he was on the edge and had to hold as couldn't just chip it in but there was a distinct lack of movement ahead to find a pass etc.

Problem is, we haven't got a philosophy infront of goal at the moment. Some teams you associate with getting the ball wide and cross, some like to work it around the box and find that killer pass, some like to hit on the counter.

Last year we were the latter 2 with Sturridge/Sterling pace and Suarez clever movement and skill... this year, we have neither of those so we get to the byline and try and cross to no one or we get to the edge of the box and have to try and work it in tight gaps with players not capable.

I absolutely agree and this has been the problem all fecking season. There's nothing doing when we shift the ball to their box. Less than nothing. So we're reduced time and again to pathetic attempts from 20, 30 yards that go wide, into row Z, into a defender. Fact that our only goal came from Stevie's wonderful free kick tonight tells the story. This Basel team were there to be gotten amongst at the back, they have no real quality yet we couldn't do it because neither do we. It's a pathetic indictment of the signings we've made in the last two windows. It's an absolute disgrace. It's like we're running into a literal brick wall that's built across every opposition's 18 yard line.

    So here's the thing

    1. He showed something

    2. His pace was finally in evidence

    3. He looked more lively and up for it

    But

    4. He cost us badly

So.... That's more than he's done in any other game however sadly when you have no forward getting to the byline is no good is it

Ah well all we can say is the boy who looked like he could do nothing at least showed a bit of his skills albeit briefly

He did more in 15 mins than most of the team last night.

He actually took on players and gave the opposition something to think about.

Also, the problem is rodgers is using him as a RW. That's not his position. Rodgers has us playing a system with wide men and it's such a waste.

Raise you hand to a players face and expect the worst!

Looking forward to see him against Man Utd! He might do well with all that space at Old Trafford.
