Morning all, Im not one to usually divulge in transfer rumours, but it has come up on the BBC Sport feed for transfer deadline day that Swansea have confirmed they are in talks with Mariappa. My jaw hasnt really lifted up from the floor, because as well as Mariappa has played this season if thats the best Swansea can do in terms of a new centre-back then they'll struggle badly. What to other Watford fans think of this move? Hes been excellent this season but i think in Bennett and Mirfin we have cover should he want to leave , as long as we get a decent fee for him, around 500k?

It would be a shame if he left, but our defence has hardly been rock solid with him playing. I suppose it all depends on just how much they are prepared to pay. A really good fee, I would have thought £750k, would be hard to turn down, but if he is already in talks with them something must have been agreed.

I'd be gobsmacked if he went for less than £1m as well as disappointed !

I saw this as well. For Adrian Mariappa to go now would be a bit naughty of Swansea City, his agent and him. He has been at the club for many years and obviously knows the problems at the club and also the problems the company would encounter getting a replacement before the transfer window is closed, unless Sean Dyche had knowledgre of this event and has bought David Mirfin as the replacement for now with the younger lads still being prepared.
As Swansea City, and I am pleased the offer is not from Cardiff City, are in the Premiership now with the money that has given them we should try and obtain a very high price or not sell.

If he goes, I hope we rob the sheep lovers for a nice big fat sum.

As good as he has been this season, he is not Prem class and Swansea will continue to struggle - which is a real shame for Judas

I do feel he has the ability to succeed in the Premier League. Sometimes his positional sense is a little questionable, but he is great on the ball and an all round solid defender.

Would be very disappointed to see him go.

I've always had the feeling that Mariappa is the sort of player who'd push on with a step up a level at the right club with Premiership quality around him. He has been one of our few bright lights so far this season winning almost everything in the air and tackling well. He's got decent pace as well which helps. Whether Swansea is that club is another matter but it would be a good challenge for him. Normally wouldn't be too concerned but even though we are still conceding I have a feeling it would have been a whole lot worse without him so if he goes the likes of Mirfin really need to step up and quickly.

We wouldn't let him go for anything short of £750k, for sure...I would've thought closer to £1.5m.

Tate got injured with a broken leg...so that is why they would be after someone else...Mariappa can pass the ball about, he's pretty similar to Ashley Williams really...
