Only had a couple of starts so far so it's hard to tell. Drury is our Mr Reliable at left-back. The first game I saw Tierney play he looked a little shaky, but by all accounts--I wasn't able to make the game on Sat--he had a good game against Barnsley, and delivered a great cross to set up our first goal.
We'll have him back at Shrewsbury if you get tired of him And Holt back if you're feeling generous too!!
Was it ã300,000 we paid for Holt? However much it was an absolute bargain! People say proven goalscorers are expensive and all that. No matter how badly he lost at home to Colchester and no matter how much he paid for possibly the worst goalkeeper to ever come to Carrow Road, Brian Gunn certainly got buying Holt very, very right.
The same could be said for Paul Simpson who brought Holt to Shrewsbury, saw a good player sitting on the bench at Forest and poached him. We couldn't turn down the 400k'ish that you bought him for. Did you get Tierney six months from the end of his contract the same way Colchester did off us?
Sounded like Tierney has got good potential from last week. Lovely cross for the first goal, admittedly Barnsley seemed to have no one marking Crofts at the time, so it wasn't too hard for him. Tierney seemed comfortable going forward which is important for us. Still need a bit more time to be sure on him though I think.
Agree that it was an intuitive bit of business by Paul Simpson to get GH. Shame for you that money talks and you couldn't keep hold of him, although obviously we're delighted. He's become a legend here. Like the look of Tierney too - yes we all love Drury, but he's not getting any younger, and can be injury prone. I see Tierney improving, and being here for some time.
Agree with all that, Matster. Simpson did very well to get Holt from Forest where he was being undervalued. Tierney looks promising as well so we owe you! All the best for the Shrews for the rest of the season!
Cheers for the info guys. Get yourselves back up to the top where you belong. Never quite got how Jamie Cureton didn't do well for us on loan as he is knocking them in for exeter now!
We never understood why cureton didnt knock them in for us either, he came through our youth team scoring lots of goals, but struggled in the first team (tho to be fair he was in and out and didnt get a fair run) we sold him and he banged the goals in for a bristol rovers i think, and reading, eventually going to colchester and finishing championship top scorer. we bought him back and he struggle again he scored 14 in his first season i think but hardly scored again for us. now he is banging them in for exeter. I think the biggest problem maybe that he wanted to score for us too much, so began snatching and over thinking things, and being less natural, which was when hes at his best
