It's what being a fan is all about. How many times has Meyler flopped & we get a goal from it, yet when Chelski did it, "****ing disgusting, this needs stamping out." Etc etc!

There's a good reason nobody remembers Owen's dive. Because he did his best impression of Maradona not long after.

Michael Owen put on 15st, got his stomach stapled, consumed bag after bag of nose candy & other illegal substances, tried to shoot journalists & became an alcoholic?

I always thought he was a bit of a boring **** myself, how wrong was I?

Okay, he did his best 1986 QF impression then.

Still think Zidane is the best ever. Always will be IMO.

Until Messi wins Argentina a world cup on his own like Maradona did in 86, then this will rumble on.

Even if his first was a disgrace, his second was brilliant.

Argentina have a better side now than 86 & Messi and is still poor when he plays for them.

Diego Maradoughnut, as I affectionately call him.

    Better than Best.

    Better than Cruyf.

    Better than Zidane.

    Better than Messi

    Better than Ronaldo.

Better than Pele and by some distance.

The greatest player to have lived.

    FACT.

No one ever includes Ferenc Puskás on these lists? Even some of the world's greatest footballers acknowledge he was one of the best, if not the best ever.

Maradona is a tosser, end of. Cheating twat who undermined anything good he had to offer; don't praise his skill, he used it to wrong effect.

100%. That Argentina 86 side was average at best, but the inclusion of Maradona alone made them the best team in the world and worthy winners. When Pele played for Brazil he was surrounded by 6 or 7 world class players, particularly in 1970.

I'd add Di Stefano to that list too.

    Theo Zagorakis.

That Greece 2004 side was **** at best, but the inclusion of Zagorakis alone made them the best team in Europe and worthy winners. When Pele played for Brazil he was surrounded by 6 or 7 world class players, particularly in 1970

Greece won as a team, I don't remember much more than that as they were so **** & lucky. They set up defensively & caught the teams on the break. It may well have been TZ that made Greece the winners in that tournament, but you can't really put him into a conversation like this!

Certainly one of the world's best, as was Eusebio.

Quite rightly so. A better player than Zidane incidentally.
