Let the grass grow under his squads feet. Or will he......... http://www.walesonline.co.uk/footba...ve-cardiff-city-stadium-pitch-91466-29838667/ Long overdue and possibly a contributory factor why we have suffered less injuries, playing on a decent home pitch for a change. Haven't we come a long way since the Barry Island theme pitch at old Nin.
Well done again to the Malaysians. I cant believe some are questioning them after no loan signings. Totally unbelievable. End of last season we were a joke. Theyve brought in a new young manager , allowed him to bring in his own staff and brought in a number of top quality players. Convinced Peter Whittingham to sign a new deal , we are in the last 8 of the Carling Cup , 3rd in the league and they are sorting the pitch out. Dont get some people. The financial commitment theyve made must be massive. After Sams and Ridsdales dealings its a miracle we havent gone into admin at worst. Everyone should be behind them 100%. If they dont want to splash out millions on a gamble of play offs or promotion then fine we live within our means and build the right way. On the pitch though I wish theyd kick the Blues out. Cant they go to Leckwith with their tiny following?
Hilts - I must say I agree totally with your first and last sentences. The stuff in between sounds like another party political broadcast and nothing to do with the article. Some supporters will always want more - nothing wrong with that, it's just a fact of life. Your're so right though - if the Malyasians hadn't come in when they did, we'd be league 1 at best and possibly even extinct. Their continued committment exemplified by this further investment in the lighting rigs for the future should be applauded by everyone.
agreed, i've been sceptical of the malaysians tbh, but so far they've got the big calls right, appointing MM, sacking DJ, the pitch lighting, bellamy, and they've put their money where their mouth is, whilst trying to build ties between malaysia and cardiff to hopefully bring in money to the club long term if we can get to the promised land. they also use a common sense approach, like the owners of liverpool and aston villa have really. far too often you see astute businessmen like venky's, mike ashley and so on take over a club and seem to panic and make rash decisions, sacking sam allardyce, naming rights of st james park etc. at least these guys have their heads screwed on properly however, that said, the achievements of the team are down to the manager and the players, not the owners
Agree with the last sentence to a point Swamp. The caveat being that the owners need to create the environment to allow the manager and team to do their jobs. Good on the Malaysians for allowing the lights to be bought. We knew they were needed as it was discussed last season. It may be that we are a signing down as a result of the money used for the lights, but it's another example of the foundations being strengthened and an indication of the long term view being taken. As for the Blues, I'm one of the few egg chasers on here. While I agree it would be good not to ground share, economics dictate otherwise. The £1M a year (or whatever it is) and the additional revenue from beer and food sales shouldn't be overlooked. The fact that it pays the salary of a couple of players is more than welcome.
The contract for the catering was sold. So very little revenue for that going to the club even for football let alone rugby. If the Blues are paying £1m a year then id let them stay while we are in this league. But surely thats nothing like what they are paying?
Stop calling me Shirley. I understood that the 20 year lease for a maximum of 18 games a season was intially set at £600K. Rent reviews (3 or 5 yearly) may have been written into the lease for the duration of its' life. Paying them off to dissolve the lease would not be out of the question for the new owners. Guy might kick up a bit, but I don't think that need be a breaking point. He has been pivotal this past 6 years, but there is a whole new ball game at the CCS now (and it isn't oval ).
i used to watch the blues at the arms park, cheap as chips, great atmosphere and overall outstanding value for money, i stopped going when they went to the CCS, its awful with there being so many empty seats, the only reason they are there is because of the council and financial issues, it would be great all round if there was no rugby there 1) pitch in better condition 2) atmosphere better at arms park 3) arms park is in town 4) more 'identity' for both clubs playing in their own grounds
Swamp - the only issue of any relevance to me is your item 1. Items 2 & 3 are of no importance to me and I suspect most others on here. Item 4 is not and issue for CCFC - we play at the CCS and that says it all - the rent boys can piss off as soon as they like. No offence meant.
i want the rent boys to piss off as much as you, and as i stated, both clubs would benefit, maybe not financially, but how much would MM want the club to pay to get an excellent pitch for the players to play on? alot i'd guess
All the above considered I was just wondering, what happened to the lawnmower and the can of white paint and 3" brush?
It's become an integral part of Malky's Sport Science/fitness programme please log in to view this image
Haven't we had a lot of injuries this year? Earnie, McPhail, Gestede (twice), Miller, Turner, Hudson, Gunnarsson, Kiss, Blake - in the pub a month ago we were noting how many injuries there were and that it didn't tie in at all with the walesmedia line of 'everything is better with Malky'!
they're trying extra hard not to get banned from cardiff city, so this time round they are welding their tongues firmly to MM's behind
