The Tories told the Nation that they had to accept the harsh realities of austerity, then immediately gave a 5% tax cut to the highest earners whilst simultaneously cutting back on benefits for the poorest, cutting NHS budgets in real terms, taking over 20,000 experienced coppers off the streets. ****ing up our prison service by removing 10,000 experienced prison officers, cutting back on education spending and bringing some councils to the brink of bankruptcy. And for what? To cover the cost of bailing out the bankers. Austerity only hurt the weakest in our society and hammered our public services, no doubt softening them up ready for privatisation as falling standards brought about by budget cuts can be conveniently sold to the populous as ‘inefficiency’. It’s was both shameful and completely transparent. **** the Tories.
