I think I heard he'd be ready for pre-season training. And not sure, I liked his spirit a lot, but felt he lacked a bit of quality.
Another of those players good enough for the Championship but perhaps not quite PL, deserves a go as a squad player...
mahon, tofos, parker, lee brown, ostler, elliott cox, rose, chimbonda, strange what the likes of clarke, agyemang, rowlands, cook, borrowdale? unless there's another list coming, your thoughts
I imagine there will be more heading off in due course. Presumably they are hoping for a bit of cash for Rowly, Cook etc, if only token amounts.
I think he definitely deserves a chance in the side. His workrate is different class. As for Cook and Rowlands I'd imagine they'd only be going on a free and probably with wages subsidised by us too.
He's an International player (yeah I know it's only Scotland, but nevertheless...) and he was doing fine against Blackburn until his injury. Mackie's gonna be a part of the squad, and his place is only in doubt if we sign a 'name' who plays in the same role.
If Jamie Machie's anything, he's a trier and won't put up with being second best. He'll work his socks off to stay in contention and his attitude is superb. Kevin Keegan was like that back in the day. Whilst Mackie's not a natural goal scorer, he sure ain't frightened of having a pop. I'll be watching his progress with great interest.
He's a trier love his work rate runs all day might find it tough against prem full backs but he will give it a right go
Yes there are doubts but he definitely should at least be given a chance. Not because I am sentimental about his excellent start but tragic injury last term but because his work rate and instinctiveness may cause PL defenders some big surprises.
Neil likes players who are prepared to work hard and Mackie is certainly one of those. Not afraid to cover any of the positions down the RHS. Hopefully still got great pace, just needs a bit more of an end product, dried up a little after a fantastic start which is my concern. Hope he gets his chance!
Don't think we should expect too much from him early in the season. Takes time to come back from a bad injury.
The goals dried up as you suggest, but the workrate never did. Really cares and rarely fails to get stuck in. Great engine for a pacey player. Given half a chance this season, I think he'll surprise a few prem sides.
Plus he's also keen to cement a place in the Scotland side, and playing well in the Premiership will certainly help him do that.
After scoring 8 goals in 8 games I have a feeling that other teams were going to try to stop him frm scoring - however, Adel popped in with a few didn't he. Mackie will be fine next season - it will take him time to adjust but he does sweat blood and tears for the club, and for the opportunity. My only concern is the first crunching tackle - especially after what happened to Rowan Vine after he broke his leg twice - never the same player for us.
