Nugent was always in the pipeline even before the Maynard rumours.

I don't see Nugent and CMS being alternativees to Maynard - Maynard offers a style of play that neither of those players do.

Nugent and CMS are basically quicker versions of Fryatt - they aren't going to make something out of nothing or take players on, they aren't going to make chances for themselves if you hoof it up to them desperately when you're under pressure. They are goalscorers - right place in the right time players that will score if you give them service (in theory).

Players like Maynard, Yakubu, Bothroyd etc make things happen themselves and it's this as well as their goalscoring that makes them the most sought after at this level.

If we can't get Maynard I think we need a similair player.

Nugent will be a free agent so wouldnt cost much. Mackail-Smith will cost 2-3M by the sounds of things and Maynard 3-4M

So at worst that as around 7M for 3 quality strikers. which works out at around 2M each which everyone would pay for them

The only issue is wages though... it'll be three lots of top wages.

Nugent, Maynard and Mackail-Smiths wages combined would be nearly the same as just the Yaks

Probably, but surely we knew players of this calibre would have high wages? Surely even last season when the Yak was here we would have been alerted to the price we have to pay for this kind of quality?

They can't expect to say we've got a load of money and then think teams/players aren't going to milk us.

I'm afraid it's time to 'put their money where their mouth is'. If we want to be auto promotion contenders we will probably have to spend as much as the other teams who have similar ambitions do. I'd advise the owners to bite the bullet because if they want Premier League you have to take SOME risks.

leicesterwizard, CMS would not play every week as we have alot of strikers now you have to remember he played in league 1 last season so it is a big step to take in to the premier league,Barry fry said CMS turned us down which is rubbish we were only interesting in him in january.i think he needs to play for a championship side like you guys and i hope you get in the premier league.
