QPR striker to make his first-team return Friday, September 23, 2011 12:14 PM Jamie Mackie rturns after recovering from a broken leg QPR forward Jamie Mackie has been given the green light to return to first team training after recovering from the broken leg he suffered last season. Mackie has spent the last seven months on the sidelines after sustaining a double leg break in a challenge with Blackburn’s El Hadji Diouf in an FA Cup tie in January. But after seeing a specialist this week, Mackie has been told he can return to training, although he will not play any part in QPR’s match with Aston Villa on Sunday. The 25-year-old Scotland international, who has nine QPR goals to his name, began last season in fine form before the injury at Ewood Park ended his season prematurely. Despite that injury, the former Plymouth Argyle and Wimbledon man was named in Neil Warnock’s 25-man squad in September. Come on, Mr Cooper. Mackie did not break his leg in a challenge with Sewer Rat Diouf, it was Gaël Givet. SRD stuck his nose (and small brain) in after that.
You just know that he's put more effort into getting back to this point than most players put into an entire career. Nothing but admiration for a professional sportsman (in every sense) and an all round good guy.
That goal at Derby had everything a striker requires. Lets hope its not a case like Kev Gallen when he was never the same after his leg break. Still, if he had come back as good, we would have lost him!
