I agree that this was handled wrong. But its also worth considering how his girlfriend and family actually felt after the event, they were probably not thinking as logically as you or I.
But my main issue was with the fact you have people insulting the dead. Quite frankly is shameful and extremely distasteful.

This thread was created without the knowledge he was drink driving. If it such a disgrace you could have just kept your opinions to yourself rather than insult someone's son, nephew and boyfriend that has passed away. Scumbag.

I think that we all ought to take a deep breath. Drink-driving is a very emotive subject, but the young man has paid the ultimate price and I see no occasion to abuse his family for their actions, even if they may not have been the wisest.
