Elliott and Lucho sound when they came on. Virgil solid, Konate decent, Joe not that bad in a difficult position. The rest? Not one over 5/10. Mo all over the show, Darwin showing why he's usually a sub in Prem games, Jota invisible, Szobbo one half again (getting a bit worried), MacAllister is a walking booking, if not sending-off in that position (watching him chug back for the goal was excruciating), Trent is abysmal at defending on the odd occasion he actually attempts to get back, Gravernberch looks like a show-pony, and Gakpo needs to start any game over Jota and Darwin. Oh, and the Greek - as bad a defender as trent, good corners, and er... nowt.

This is why I didn't, and still don't, like Trent's new role. It's not a question of what he brings to the midfield, but what we lose down the right.

Just play Joe at RB, Trent at the base of a diamond, MacAllister at the head of a diamond, where it's not so bad when he loses the ball and has to run back, and play 2 forwards. Didn't need three forwards today at all IMO.

just realised too watching it again, that non-handball by Barklay (it wasn't) was another howler for Darwin - the ball five yards out from goal, and he ****ing trips up over it again. Dire. Just ****ing dire.

How many of our rivals will drop points at Luton? Not many I think and they will all make sure to use wingers to stretch that team. We always knew what their game plan would be and it worked for them, we got it all wrong today and deserved nothing from that game

nunez just isn't a top striker. I've said that lots.

he's gone out there pot shotting today amd blazed everything. I don't know why he's decided to do so but he showed zero nous.

however gakpo made as bad a miss. he's over ran the Elliott cross and robbed himself of an open goal. thst was poor.

After that salah was awful as well.

none will most likely. we will be struggling to get those points back all season.

two rank results were enough last year in leeds and forest to put us in 5th.

the only single tiny thing is we managed to equalise

    off width providing a cross.

incidentally, spurs played narrow against 9 men until they had a lad on in dying members of the game who crossed a few and they got an og.

teams playing 11 men back like Luton have to be stretched to create the gaps.

klopp singularly fails with this stupid trent tactic.

    that wouldn't work

a narrow diamond wouldn't force them to defend the full width of the park.

They probably won’t however if we beat our rivals in our head to heads then we’ve overcome the dropped points from this match. Anyway, this match won’t be the decider on where we finish. It just shows much we need a 6 in January.

Mate, we were dogshit. No point polishing that turd. Dodgy defending, vapid midfield, and calamitous forward line. Not an overreaction, just a recognition that whilst we have definitely improved a lot since last season, we're a long, long way away from 2019 and 2020. :emoticon-0145-shake

the reality here is that jota got a strop on there and dropped right off after that, macallister imo was injured after that scissor tackle.

Szoboszlai did play bad, he did look a bit tired.

we were playing far too narrow and the subs only partially addressed it.

Elliott actually got 4 or 5 good balls in but was on his own over there. trent was blazing stupid crosses from deep and shooting from left side 40 yards out. how the **** is that logical tactic.

to this end, you have a big hoofer of a centre forward who spent most of the game wide and not within the 6 yard tramlines and when you started crossing he was nowhere.

not of it was really logical. tsimiaks amd diaz sort of worked together but it wasn't really systematic where overlapping was the policy as a result most of the time we were crossing from deeper and not getting behind

Can anyone explain to me why we have become so poor at corners. Time was when Virgil, Matip and Konate put themselves about and scored goals from corners. That seems to have gone now. What has changed? We were poor from corners today ( we were poor at everything today)

    OK lad.

One poor game and we are ****e.

If Darwin or salah pops away one of their chances, you'd be on here spouting that we are fantastic.

It's a game of fine margins, one win doesnt make up champions, one loss doesn't make us ****e.

    It's childish

I bet some will drop points at Luton.
Did city fans say the same when they lost away to Wolves (we won there)?
