Yeah tbh, what the bloody hell was he doing? He was nowhere near the ball. Plus, if a team starts to get a reputation, which I think we might have by now, then referees are more likely to show a card at a particular moment.
I take it you like to hear commentators discuss the weather and the pigeon that's just flown by, instead of the match?
LOL - They must have been exceptional yesterday then - although having said that, I did notice my attention kept wandering, maybe I was tuning out anything not match related
Not forgetting the in depth discussions about whether it should be a pie or pastie at half time and what bet Swanny has placed.
I thought the tackle summed his game up though, he backed into each defender everytime and threw his boots in at there chest each time. He's a dirty player, and no threat. Well done to Rosenoir!
From on TV I'm not even sure I'd have booked him for it given previous decisions. I'd be thinking back to the McKenna incident in the first half where he launched himself into a tackle on the half way line at about 100mph from miles away and was fortunate given he had no coontrol of himself from that point on that the Pompey number 8 (cheating bastard that went down feigning injury over it) was never within a foot of making contact so he got away with just giving away a freekick. That said, Varney did enough in front of East Stand in the first half to have already been off the pitch, so whether he should have gone for that tackle in particular is a moot point.
BeverleyTiger it is ROSENIOR not ROSENOIR .... Also if Rosenior did it to someone and got sent off for the exact thing Varney did everyone on here would say he shouldn't have been sent off I dislike biased people....
You can't say there was nothing in it, he hurt Chester and got nowhere near the ball, and as a few above have said it could have been a lot worse. The most telling thing was the ref's reaction. Usually referees are really cautious and desperate not to make a mistake but as soon as Varney went in the ref was blowing his whistle like crazy and running at him and I at that point I said to the people near me he was gonna send him off, even though I hadn't seen the incident. You could just see how adamant he was immediately after the incident.
