Every week we've had the rose tints backed up by the increasingly desperates telling us that next match's gonna be THE ONE - even if they can't tell us why. Things are getting so bad now, been finding meself just hoping that some of you know so much more than me about what's gonna change our fortunes than I do, don't bother to rationalise anything or comment on such things any more. Spending so much time willing you all to be proven right, even if it means one of those nauseating TYS moments for some - but hasn't happened yet has it?

But this week's gotta be a bit different hasn't it? Home to almost equally luckless and newly promoted Southampton - AND a few of our Irish contingent are over to reinforce our support to boot - so this game just HAS to be THE ONE doesn't it?

A lot of people don't realise that the old expression 'luck of the Irish' is actually an ironic term lamenting how unlucky our cousins can be sometimes.

    That needs to change too.

So let's just hope that for once things take a turn for the best for all of us, and that the Irish fans have good reason for as upbeat a trip back home as they'll no doubt have on their way over.

If it all works out, the term 'luck of the Irish' will have a special new meaning for all of us on here.

    COUIRISHRsssssssssssssssssssss!!

Thought you described yourself as tall NUTS! Maybe dress up as an oblong block of rock and come as the Blarney Stone - or as a man in black and come as a pint of Guinness to drown our sorrows!

I can't even think of one rationale for why our season will suddenley change Brix. ( The reasons why are well documented elsewhere. )

It can only be the 'Luck of the Irish' that for some bizarre irrational reason dispels this.

Apologies to the late John Lennon and his Plastic ONO Band, circa 1972.

"If you had the luck of the Irish.
You'd be sorry and wish you was dead.
If you had the luck of the Irish,
You'd wish you was English instead........"<sorry>
