Everton, West Ham and QPR Lead Luc Castaignos Suitors

    Monday, 16th July, 2012

A trio of English Premier League clubs are chasing Inter’s out-of-favour striker Luc Castaignos.

The Dutch hitman is expected to leave Inter this summer and this has piqued the interest of Everton, West Ham United and Queens Park Rangers.

Castaignos has struggled for first team football since signing for the Nerazzurri from Feyenoord last summer. In the 2011/12 campaign, the 19-year-old was restricted to just six appearances, although he did find the back of the net.

The Dutchman was linked with a switch away from Inter in the January transfer window, but told Inside Futbol he turned down a loan move simply because he believed he was learning more training day in day out with world-class performers in Italy; Castaignos has also been determined to make his mark at the Serie A giants.

However, with Inter believed to be willing to let the striker leave and the Dutchman himself growing desperate for regular playing time, the door is open for an exit.

Castaignos is popular in England, where Everton, West Ham and QPR are all keen on securing his services. Liverpool were amongst his suitors in January, but that track has since gone cold.

Under contract with Inter until 2016, Castaignos also has options away from England, with Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon and French champions Montpellier paying close attention to his situation in Italy.

A return to Feyenoord on loan had also been mooted, but with Inter preferring a permanent sale, this proved not to be financially viable for the Dutch side.

Do we have a prior link to him?
Interesting lad. Only 19, powerful, 1.87 m (6 ft 2 in) and seems to know were the goal is.

That's one hell of a scoring record. That and his age I guess will mean he wouldn't be cheep.

Sounds like a great prospect if the scouts have had a proper look at him and the asking price matches their valuation.

That would be a happy and pleasantly early end to the silly season.

I admit I know nothing about him but Im already more excited about signing an unknown player than the likes of AJ.

It will be great if we can get a few young players in the positions we need and we need a target man as weve only got Zamora and an often injured HH.
