What an absolute c..t Mike Ashley must be. Latest article shows he may be in trouble with the Financial authorities over the way he has dealt with one of his businesses ( a profitable one at that ). Cleared out all the stock before telling staff there may be a problem and within 15 mins they were told the firm were in Administration leaving creditors out of pocket. Owner of warehouse barrackaded the trucks in until he received his rent and it appears Ashley has done the dirty using sharp practices to get the business assets on the cheap.
I'm not a financial expert but perhaps someone could eloborate. Full story here.

Well, it's gotta be tough for a guy only worth £5.5bn. I mean, how else is he going to get to £10bn without sh!tting on a few of us common morons?

Can I genuinely ask, not as a wum but a Londoner why is Ashley so hated. From here it looks like (almost) racism against southerners. I know not much has been won but you are afloat, top 20 rich club, safely mid table, sounds good from where I am

The answer is long and complicated. A lot of it is justifiable - would you like Joe Kinnear at your club? Would you like a fairly likable character sacked and replaced with an out-of-work League One manager in Alan Pardew? Would you like to see your team limp to 40+ points every season, by all means necessary? Would you like your club to actively state it has no interest in cup competitions at all, with its' sole aim being to remain a Premier League club so that your obscenely rich owner can get richer, whilst your club sells Andy Carroll, Yohan Cabaye and Matthieu Debuchy?

A lot is over the top - stability is important, we have re-entered the top 20 richest clubs in the World, and so on. But the thing that gets fans is that we've been swept up, as a heart-and-soul club, into Capitalism. We are profit and loss, we are balance sheets, we are risk assessments. We aren't St James Park, we aren't Bobby Robson, we aren't Alan Shearer, we aren't the Toon Army. Not anymore. And that's down to having an owner whose sole intention is to get richer, via Sports Direct.

All a all fair points we had eccleston and his muppets saying things like I have always like Chelsea, bit like a someone connected to you liking Sunderland but apart from business I cannot see what he has done so bad, he wears the shirt, spend money, it will always be never enough, but he is not Russian mafia or Saudi royal so there are limitation, my club QPR seemingly have no interest in cups and honestly want to just remain a prem club. I get you are a one city club, we have three other clubs within spitting distance ( I've tried), and understand that he and lambias are one generation fron caravan dwellers but still do not see what is so bad and still not heard a good reason other than accent that shepherd or Robson had

We certainly don't hate Londoners or Southerners. Les Ferdinand, Rob Lee, Warren Barton, Chris Hughton, Malcolm McDonald to name a few,all considered top geezers up here and welcome anytime.
What we don't like is an owner who see's our club as a merchandising platform only, doesn't respect our long history ( St.James' Park became Sports direct Arena.com ) Loan Sharks as Sponsors, has a policy of buying players and selling them soon as they increase value which as a result sees no improvement in our team in 7 years. Has stated he has no interest in ANY cup competitions and has happily said 10th is a successful season. Employs the worst coaching staff in the Prem yet gives them 8 years contracts and no matter how bad things get they stay in post.
We are supposedly the 19th richest club in the World yet we supposedly still owe Ashley over £120M, where has it all gone? Recent report shows we are the 8th best supported club in the World yet Ashley couldn't give a damn.
I could go on and on but NO one at the club would listen or give a monkeys what the fans think.,

Our club under Mike Ashley has no desire to succeed on the pitch. He doesn't want us to win cups and he doesn't want us get into Europe. Mid-table is where he wants us so he gets his TV money guaranteed every year and his Sports Direct signs get shown to the hundreds of millions of viewers around the world. We have become a vacuous shell of a club and he has stripped all enjoyment out of following the club. The bad feeling has been there since shortly after he took over of course - appointing Wise and Jimenez, lying to Keegan and the fans (proven in court), appointing Kinnear as his replacement and getting us relegated. The club has also treated fans quite badly over the years - trying to split up sections of fans that gave them **** - the petty banning of journalists left right and centre who wrote things they didn't like. It goes on and on. That's the summary and I can't be bothered to go over every last thing he has done wrong since, suffice to say it's all out there on the internet so get googling.

Financially we are stronger although we have only regained a place in the top 20 rich list through the new TV deal kicking in. We should always be in that list and were as high as 11th 10 or 15 years ago IIRC and it could be argued that he should have been criticised for letting us drift out of that list. I agree with the transfer policy Ashley has put in place but only to an extent. We have money to spend but don't spend it and we are always left with shortcomings in the squad. Every season. In short we could do more but choose not to because drifting along in mediocrity is acceptable to Mr Ashley.

It has nothing to do with him being from the south. When he first arrived here he was sitting with the fans and buying rounds of drinks in Newcastle bars and he was given a warm welcome. It was just when he started screwing the club and fans over that people turned.

Cheers Gordon and general for the your answers and won't mention north south again, but still do not see the problem, before Ashley you were still not pulling up trees in the 70s, 80's 90's Keegan nearly did something for you but I still haven't forgiving him for letting England down badly, but I guess i guess he has the accent and is forgiven by you. I see Newcastle no better or worse under Ashley

I think Gordon and General Lee have made great points here. Even then, unless it's YOUR club and YOUR team, I don't think you can fully appreciate the feeling of being repeatedly and brutally f***ed over by somebody only interested in personal wealth. He could be a Geordie, a Mackem, Cockney, Brummie, Aussie, German or an Eskimo, it wouldn't make any odds. It's the way we've been treated that matters. The main reason the whole Cockney Mafia ****e comes into play is because he surrounded himself with Dennis Wise, Joe Kinnear, Pardew etc. to be his 'yes men'. If Ashley had used them to genuinely take the club forward, we'd be happy. The truth is, he brought them in on the cheap because that's his whole approach. You get what you pay for.

So no, it's not an unfounded hate of 'southerners', in fact most on here would class me as a Southerner (as I grew up in the south with a Geordie born and bred family). I still love the Toon, just like my family. It's about being fed up of somebody coming in and taking over 100 years of pride for thousands of people and then shafting it into oblivion for personal pleasure.

I guess non Toon fans still won't get it. But than again, we are all deluded, 17st, beer guzzling, pie eating, Northern twats. Each and every one of us. We probably just deserve it to be fair.
