I was just sitting here reviewing my thoughts on are past few games and a question popped into my head.

    'Why aren't we playing Lovenkrands?'

I mean, the last time he played we beat West Ham 5-0. Leon Best scored a hatrick, and they seemed like a very fast and dangerous pair. While Best and Ameobi don't seem to have any connection with one another.

I would start Lovenkrands along side Best against Fulham and give the very tired Fulham defence a run around! After there games leading up to ours they will surely have trouble putting up with Lovenkrands and Best. And if it's not working as Soccer AM would say: "BRING THE SUB ON!" <laugh>

    Worth a shot! :emoticon-0148-yes:

Agree, shame we never got to see him and Ranger together during Carroll's absence, and probably wont (dont understand how Best and Shol are getting so veyr many plaudits). Lover scored one and assisted 2 against West Ham, if Shola gets injured again - which does seem to happen whenever he gets a run of games - I'd like to see Best and Lover again.

Ranger and Loven would be great IMO. Or Ranger and Best. Or Ranger and Shola. Or just give Ranger games, Pardew!

Best seems to stare at Ameobi like 'I thought I joined a Premier League club..Not Tranmere Rovers! What is this?!' They just don't seem happy together. Lovenkrands and Best are a far better pair and there pace would really hurt Fulham. Football managers don't seem to change there squads to different situations anymore.

I think Lovenkrands is a good squad player but i would prefer to play Ranger as i am convinced he is Drogba in waiting- Once he learns to hit the back of the net that is!

lovenkrands just isnt good enough, he is too weak in the PL and cant utilise his pace effectively (similarly to routledge).
i dont see why ameobi should be dropped at all, he will probably worry the fulham back line- and if anything best should be dropped.
ranger should be coming off the bench though, he just needs a goal imo -i dont think i can recall loven ever making a differnce from the bench ?

Lover must have no confidence though, he's gone from established starter to getting an occasional sub app. When if he's fit and firing he is IMO our 2nd best striker. He is the only small quick striker we have (since Xisco never plays) and is a full international and proven goalscorer. IMO playing Best is a bigger risk than Lover, the hat trick has made him become overrated.

I'd like to see Lover get back in the team on a regular basis, as if he can get back to the form he was in for the 2nd half of last season, then he could be vital in the coming weeks/months without Carroll!

He played great in the championship last year then just suddenly got dropped for this season from the word go and people started saying he couldnt cut it in the prem. I really think he just hasn't been given a proper chance this season; after starting every game and bagging loads of goals last year, being turned into a sub that plays once a month or something isn't exactly confidence boosting. I reckon giving him a go with Best then replacing whoever has the weaker game with Ranger later on could work pretty well.

Im a big fan of McLoven, I think him and Best should start against Fulham and if its not working, shove Ranger on for one of them after an hour, probably Loven as he wont be as match fit as Best Im sure. Keep Ameobi below them as far as Im concerned...just too lazy for me. I remember against Tottenham after about 80 mins or so when he had the ball near the dugout in acres of space and just stood there while someone (Barton I think) was making a good run on the opposite side of the pitch, and Ameobi just hoofed the ball straight at their keeper and invited another attack on us. Lazy Bastard!

I'd like to see him getting more game time. I think he'd start hitting the back of the net consistently if he was given a run of games.

Also, with Barton playing on the wing the only supply he gets is crosses into the area which doesn't really suit him, all his clever little runs go unnoticed. If we get Barton back in the centre we have to have Lovenkrands back up front because Barton is brilliant at sliding him in.

Was it Barton who put him in for his chance against Spuds?

Aye I agree AG, given a chance he could be the perfect foil for AC09 iin the Premier League. He might not score more than 10 goals/season, but will we really need more than that if Carroll and Nolan are firing atround the 20 mark?
He's definitely not a long term solution, but for now he should be given a chance (Wasn't it around this time last year when he started to become good as well?).

    Yep. <ok>

Yeah, start of the season was similar to this, he'd had a bit part role, played on the wing a bit. Then Harewood went back to wherever he came from and Carroll and Nolan were injured so he started getting games and goals.

Great finish there from him. I do really like the guy and believe he is our second best striker, will probably be third best when ranger can hit the back of the net!

    BUMP!

**** me, this thread seems so futile now. Lover has been gash. If Pardew has read this and as a result played Lover over Ranger, I personally hold the OP responsible.
