Read today that we are posting reduced losses for the last financial year, albeit a moderate drop.

£67.7m down from £70m the previous year, but that also factors in the purchase of Luiz and Torres and contractual compensation to Carlo and Porto for the services of AVB, the latter of which amounts to somewhere around £30m.

We have had a record breaking year in turns of turnover, and our purchasing has dropped significantly this season...if we manage to steady the ship and maintain top four we will be in good shape for the FFP regs that are based on 2012 - 2014 books.

Is that how Liverpool can afford to waste £40m on Downing and Henderson?

    Torres - 2 goals 2 assists

    Carroll - 3 goals, 1 assist = £35m
    Downing - 0 goals 0 assists = £20m - Making this a total of £75m
    Henderson -1 goal 1 assist = £20m

Meaning a total of 3 players 'worth' £25m more than our player has somehow only managed 2 more goals and equal assists (despite two of those players being midfielders lol).

Bitten like a little kipper ;)

    Oh and

"On 9 June 2011, Sunderland and Liverpool confirmed they had agreed an undisclosed fee thought to be worth around £20 million"

Give or take mate. Still a massive waste of the kind donation we gave you :)

Ok let me get this straight; you think Henderson and Downing are good value for money?

Lukaku has been turd and I'll happily admit that but the lad is only 18 <doh>

Sorry, you are extremely deluded if you think Jordan Henderson is worth £20m.

As an outsider you'd have to explain to me how this is good news because to me you look fu*ked.

Firstly this year will count towards it.

Financial year ending 2012, so already your pretty much over the FFP limit with another 2 years to go.

Secondly if you take away all transfer spending you're still posting a 30 mil loss? So that means you have to find an extra 30 mil a year while possibly missing out on CL football in order to break even!?

How are you going to buy players? sell to buy? how are you going to replace drogs, lampard, terry etc?

There will be a way round it somehow otherwise we'll have no-one in the CL considering Barca and Man u are in a lot of debt, Madrid have spent fortunes, Us, Man City and PSG have also spent a lot aswell

United will make it no sweat, club debt doesn't affect it. Id be surprised if Real or Barca had problems either given the huge revenues and bottomless well of TV money they negotiate themselves and the fact they both have only spent around 10-30 mil this year on transfers.

Assuming the "nouveau riche" clubs cant weasel around the rules then how do you foresee Chelsea managing?

These are based, as stated in my OP, as last years figures that were released today.

Last fiscal year ended in June 2011.

These losses relate to that period only, Not July onwards, where a very different picture can be seen.

This is good news , and I hope we'll make sure we develope the class youngsters, de Bruyne, McEachran, Lokaku , Romeu etc to come forward and create the class club in years to come!

We've already replaced Drogs, Lampard, Terry as well as Ashley Cole and Malouda. They are currently on loan, on the bench or in the reserves, but they ARE there.

    Also to be considered are:

1: The impact certain departures will have on the wage bill.

2: If we hadn't bought Torres we'd be right in contention in the FFP.

3: Buck has stated that there will be no more big buys like Torres, and our recent acquisitions have demonstrated that.

What remains to be seen is what happens with AVB and if the board give him the time required or try and lure JM back since his recent decision to quit Real at the end of the season and come back to England.

I am not advocating the above, but I am intruiged to see what happens...Utd, City and us all have to be in contention with Spurs and maybe Liverpool as outside bets<ok>

    Jose at spurs!?!?!?

I think he'd want more than the 'pocket money' wages that tight arse Levy pays!! They can't even tie down Adebayor.
