Basing your perception of whether you are better on us on 2 games is not the best evidence for your argument. Besides are you forgetting the very 1st NLD of the season? Because we comprehensively outplayed you in that. Also you have not performed on a par against us throughout the season as if so then you would be ahead or level with us. Good performances generally lead to good results and if your performances had been on average better than ours or man citys then I am inclined to think that you would have overtaken us.

All I am saying is that Spurs are now on a par with Arsenal not that one is better than the other. On the field Spurs are no longer having to play at the top of their game just to hang on to the coat-tails of Arsenal as has been the case for too many years. Now it is a game of equals. If I had to come down and say which was the best I would have to pick Arsenal but the difference is now marginal.

We will get a clearer picture next season (depending on what happens in the transfer window) but I don't think Arsenal can rest easy with the thought that top 4 is certain. Niether of course can Spurs as we never have.

I think the top 4 will be extremely difficult to get in to next year and for us it totally depends on how we spend in the summer. I think all the top 6 teams will have to make strong investments in to their teams so that they don't get left behind. Makes for a great season thats for sure.

Why do spurs fans feel they can bring that up? Since when were you hauling in the trophies?

To be honest, whilst this article attempts to put a good spin on Spurs' season, ultimately you finished 5th and that's all that counts.

All teams can speculate on how they should have done better, got more favourable decisions from the ref, won games that they drew etc.

We could argue that we threw both games away against you and should have taken all 6 pts, but that didn't happen, so we have to face facts rather than fantasy.

I said we underachieved that is the opposite of putting a good spin on the season. That was Harry he put the good spin, I am just slowing it down a bit.

Now we have a top 6. Will that be the case by the time the season starts or will transfers reduce it to a top 4 again?

Why is 5th bad though, Piskie?
We're vastly outspent by all of the other teams in the top 6, so it's tough for us to unseat anyone.
    That is the reality.

There is an almost direct correlation between a club's wage bill and their league position, in the Premier League.
There's a reason for that, despite any attempts by Arsenal fans to claim otherwise.

I'm not looking at things in a simplistic way at all, just contradicting what some people like to think about their clubs.
Spending on transfers and wages is in no way different.
A player bought for £25m who is paid £4m a year for 5 years will cost less than one brought in on a Bosman, but paid £10m a year for 5 years.

I've yet to hear a convincing argument to the contrary and yours are no different, frankly.

Individual player's wages aren't fixed, but performance related bonuses are relatively predictable for an entire squad.
If one player is getting them, then another won't be.
There will be unexpected highs and lows (trophy wins, relegation, etc.) but the club will be able to foresee and plan for most of them.

You've misunderstood what I mean about transfers and wages.
The money doesn't go to the same place, but it is still spent by the club, either way.
£25m spent on a transfer and subsequent wages is the same as £25m paid solely on wages over the same period.
The club spends £25m on both.

Do transfer fees dictate salaries at a club?
    No.

But the size of the club, reserve team and the training facilities do dictate the wages.
