Can anyone remember if loan deals in the Premier also have to be concluded by the end of the Transfer window ?

Lots of clubs seem to be leaving it very late to buy players, meaning there will probably be a melt down of the Fax machine at the FA on last minute deals.

Could it be that loan deals will see a lot of the surplus over paid players at big clubs be moved on to the clubs further down the league ? As an example Sturridge could do more damage against Chelsea's rivals than he would sitting a lot of the games on their bench. ( But personally I think he won't be loaned out ).

What players would you try to get on Loan ?

Aguero, Suarez and Drogba. They can all compete for a place in the starting line-up as Bobby's partner.

Seriously, Sturridge would clearly be a good bet but I think you're right that he won't be loaned out. Apparently Kakuta is keen on being loaned again and presumably would be happy to come back to us but, although I think he's a good player, I'm not sure he'd add much to the squad this season.

Surely there must be a decent striker sitting on a bench somewhere whose club would be happy for him to be loaned out...

Michael Owen doesn't look like getting much of a look in at United. Stick him in a time machine and he'd be ideal!

Michael Owen would just be AJ all over again, regular injuries, run around a bit although owen would score a few more goals than AJ. On the topic of unwanted Man Utd strikers, with wellbeck rooney and hernandez above him in the pecking order, how about the idea of bringing berbatov to the cottage on loan? We'd struggle with his wages though if Man U were willing to pay some of them then who knows, he might be the target man we want!

In reply to the original question, yes, the same transfer window applies to loan deals as to permanent transfers. I think there is an exemption for 'emergency loans', but that's for clubs in the football league, not in the Premier league. Our squad will be what it is when the window closes, with no further additions - other than out of contract players without clubs - until January. The only other exception to this is if a club finds itself severely short of goalkeepers, in which case an emergency loan is usually allowed.

Fergie apparently turned down an offer from Paris St. German for Berbatov and has said that he wants to keep him at United this season, so I think a loan would be highly unlikely, to us or anyone else.

Yes, there must be a suitable forward out there available for loan, but I'm blowed if anyone comes to mind. I still think there will be a permanent transfer or two for us before the window closes. We seem to be making offers for a large number of right backs and strikers, so it's clear that the club is actively searching.

With Chelsea buying at the moment, there will be players struggling for 1st team games,
    Sturridge being my main thought.
Get rid of AJ say £10 which will free up 40/45k per week, and firstly loan, and if necessary
adding the the excess wages. WE NEED TO SCORE.

Sturridge would be a good loan, and Chelsea will benefit with him participating in Europa League games. Although today is reported as to be part of the Modric offer as a year loan to Spurs. But surely Chelsea would not want to strengthen a rival of Champion League place!!!

I don't think Chelsea see Spurs as rivals for a Champions League place. They probably see the Manchester Clubs as rivals for the title, and Arsenal, Liverpool and Spurs as competing for fourth. That may be harsh on Liverpool who could challenge the top three, particularly with no European distractions, but I suspect that Chelsea see Spurs as being on a slightly lower tier to themselves, particularly if they lose Modric.

But I agree that if we could sign Sturridge on loan, it would be the best signing we've made all summer. Make it so!
