We played some excellent football in the first half but took our foot off the gas in the second. West Ham had some very good chances but luckily they didn't take them.

It was nervy but still a fully deserved win for us.

Half the team stops trying to score while the other half continue to take the same risks to drive in.

I call it dicking about now.

    Cos it is.

And your man henderson is a prime offenders of playing 6 one touch passes between him and another player until they are completely closed down and lose it and let a chance in.

The attack definitely had an off day. Constant poor decision making all though-out the match. Brainless decisions at the end where everyone was hell bent on trying to score instead of keeping the ball to see the game out (Milner telling Jones to go into the corner was the most intelligent decision of the whole 90).

Hendo played a simple game vs West Ham - was more concerned about keeping possession and not taking too many risks. Think he was fine. Naby was very good defensively and kept the ball well as well as playing some nice progressive passes (which led to the goal).

The theory still continues - Fabinho + Naby / Thiago on the left side wins football matches ...

We are fine til we score. Just watch. We never ever play one touch passing back and forth unless we have scored and a few players are very much culpable.

I'll add trent to it as well. It's complete dicking about

I'd have Jones infront of Naby if Thiago isn't available most games personally - the more minutes/development he continues to get the better. Rate him highly.

Salah was pretty infuriating, he's allowed one so no drama but glad he got hooked as it was just head down and i'll take on the world **** - not good enough

Thought Trent had a really good game. The clearance off the line alone makes him my MOTM. Good to see him do some real defensive work throughout the whole game. All three forwards trying too hard to score. Another win. Onwards.

He did alright. Same as the rest. Too much dicking about rather than actual attacking though.

His assist for the goal and clearance at the other end were outstanding. We win games in lots of different ways and as Klopp says, with different heroes. Trent was this week's hero.

he came into it after a dodgy start but also faded second half.

by far not the worst player on show.

Spotted this too but it's because it's a different mentality when ahead.

At 0-0, ther other team is often happy to sit back and let us have the ball because they're happy to take a point.

Once we score, the opposition have to chase the game so need to gain possession. If they don't try to get the point, we're happy to take the 1-0. Ideally, they try and take possession and we then exploit the space.

yeah but even watch the clip of naby la! not one lad he passes the ball forward to is too pushed doing anything. most of them send it straight back.

I think holding the ball and forcing a team to come out and this hitting them is a very different tactic to dicking around passing it aimlessly until you are hemmed into a tight area and lose it or have the keeper kick it away.

Just seems to no longer be playing to score but rather passing time. by all means make the opposition chase it but if you've 5 and 6 passes between the same two players while teams slowly compress round them and then they back pass to the keeper well..... in the end its sloppy brain dead mistakes that were causing our issues v west ham. They had no quality at all to exploit us but still got through far too many times.

    a) if you control the game from the lead why have a massively high line that people can run through?
    b) if you are controlling the game why let players get on top of you by passing aimlessly?
    c) if you are controlling the game why kick the ball away aimlessly?
    d) if you are controlling the game why invite pressure by misplacing passes behind player and forcing them to turn away from play?

I just see a lot of sloppiness masquerading as control. play it faster, further wide and make them suffer as the ball moves. don't dick with it short and abdicate responsibility.

Yeah I agree, it actually sucks the life out of our game. We go from free flowing attacks, causing all sorts of problems to unable to get a sniff and it's becuase the mentality, momentum and crowd all shift when we try and do this. We aren't Citeh and should stop all that bollox, especially the 6 1-2's between the same players, lucky someone don't go straight through the back of them with that nonsense.
