Went to sleep a bit at the end and Thiago did his best to give Burnley a goal. Apart from that a satisfactory performance. We're not on fire yet, but I'm sure there's better to come.
Not a great performance but a lot of positives in that Tsimikas had a good game , Elliott gets a full 90 , Mane scores and we did it with Jones , AOC , Fab & Milner ready for Chelsea .
Typical game v Burnley, physical to the end. Mike Dean is a shambolic ref but we knew that anyway. Could have conceded 2 or 3 there, but also could have scored 6. Get Fab back for Chelsea, got to tighten up at the back. Another 3 points, clean sheet as Alisson was excellent.
Alisson very good. Great save at the end to keep the clean sheet. Tsimikas and TAA. Very good. Great attacking outlet. Defensively solid as well. vvd just cruised through. Tough game against wood and Barnes but just took it in his stride. Can tell he’s not 100% yet but in both boxes offered an aerial threat as well. Matip struggled for me. On the floor absolutely fine. But got bullied by Wood but had no help with Hendo not dropping infront to stop the ball into him. Hendo and Keita were ok. Nothing special. Elliott very good on the ball. Lots of work to do still but really encouraging. Can tell he’s young and inconsistent. Front 3 were what we expected. Didn’t link up huge amount but 2 of them got goals so can’t complain.
Difficult game to quantify really. Burnley where much more attacking and pressed much higher than I expected. At times this did mean the that pope kicked it to Allison and Allison kicked it back again. Negated our midfield and forward press by not even attempting to pass out from the back. When we did manage a bit of possession we cut through them with reasonable ease but Burnley certainly made it a hard game. The effort and aggression they show us second to non, I bet their fans love every single one of them.
