Thought it would be interesting if we list players we've been linked with in recent years and see where they are now. I think we'll get an idea of how much progress has been made.. Zander Diamond - Burton Albion
Interesting thread. Was thinking of doing something similar. Not sure if he was ever "linked" but many here would have liked us to have signed Matt Tubbs. Cost a lot of money and rarely gets a look in at Bournemouth. We couldn't afford Sam Baldock but he is not a regular starter for Bristol City. His goal ratio is good in a struggling team though (10 goals in 19 starts and 11 as sub) so I am not sure why. Fitness problems? I wanted us to sign Wordsworth and Boyd, both class players. Wordsworth got a bad injury and is just coming back. I suppose Boyd was always priced out of our league but he seems to be doing well at Hull. Interesting issue: just because players are not rooting up any trees at other clubs (like Tubbs), it doesn't mean they might not shine with us (like Kermorgant). If CP really had faith in a player who was misfiring elsewhere he might pick him up cheaply. Guess we have missed the boat with Schlupp now Man Utd have been hyping him. And if Pearson goes the next manager might want to give all his staff the chance to impress him.
Was thinking more of recent years. Another example being warren feeny- someone who we were happy to see sign for us. He's now at Plymouth.

Or do people think that he'll go higher - Saw him down the right on Goals Express last night putting in a lovely cross for their goal
Adomah is quality. Would love to sign him. I saw Liam chilvers score for port vale yesterday. Was he the one we tried to sign from Preston?
How many of these were we really in for? What was fascinating about Mullins,Purse and remember Julian Gray was that they dropped through the Divisions around the same time we did. We first apparently went after Gray on a Bosman under Curbs in 2003 I think he even played for us in a friendly and by 2010 he was turning out for Walsall. It shows we are on the up when we start getting linked with Steve Sidwell again.

James Dunne. I believe we had him on trial, but as we hadn't set the budget we couldn't sign him and he went to Exeter? Funny to see what calibre of player we had to chase because of money problems/league standings. Progress has been made.
I think those two were born linked to Charlton. Certainly were long before they played in the top tier, and then again as they slithered down again.
