Bristol City put in a bid of £150000 for Liam Kelly from Kilmarnock. He's a 22year old midfielder, played 100 games and scored 15 goals. Scottish U21 played 9 games. Played one game for the senior team in 2012. Thoughts if true.
I remember this lad now! When Kilmarnock beat Celtic in the Scottish Cup Final his dad died right by the Kilmarnock dugout, and the poor guy found out right after winning the cup. The story was absolutely heart-wrenching and apparently he hasn't played a game for them since, despite being held in high regard as one of their best players and a player destined to get snapped up by Rangers or Celtic. I'm kinda surprised that he wants to leave, given all the support he's been given. I understand that he wants to move closer to Milton Keynes as was born in England and his family is there. He could be a decent player, but is he in the right mind to be jumping into a relegation dogfight with us?
Sad story in his past and I question why he would want to come here. Please don't let this become another player who wants to return home after 3 games. We don't need more players, we need good players, and I'm not sure whether this would be a good signing, so let's move on.
Excuse me for coming back so fast but does 150,000 get you a highly rated player, and if so by whose definition?
6 months left on his contract. I'd assume we're being used to start a bidding war, according to the EP Norwich, West Ham and Newcastle are interested... Must have something about him?
Why is it that we all go on about finding those rare gems and picking up a good player at a steal and then, when we engineer the circumstances where it might just possibily happen, everyone piles in and says NO...! DM's stock is high in Scotland with what he achieved with SJ so players might feel happier coming to work with him - I am very happy in the main with the quality of DM' s LONG TERM signings so why couldn't this be another one...?
Jody Morris was McInnes's last attempt at a midfielder from Scotland so I'm not convinced. And anyway Derby are interested so it's likely Kelly would do as Neil Danns - sign for somebody else.
Well ill take back my earlier comment because if he signs and becomes a instant success ill look a bellend. So if he does come here ill show him the same level of respect and get behind him like I do all the other players
I'd rather sign a young lad from kilmarnock for a small fee then someone waster at the back end of his career ie marc wilson/morris.. And Shiny.. he's actually English lol
Yes who plays for Scotland Anyway. Our first bid got rejected yesterday. We've now put a second bid in today http://sport.stv.tv/football/clubs/...ond-bid-for-kilmarnock-midfielder-liam-kelly/
Another poster said Blackpool interested. Well if he's leaving Kilmarnock to be closer to his Mother in Milton Keynes, then he'll need to come further south than Blackpool. We are about two hours away from MK so even we may not be close enough. MK Dons, Coventry City, Peterboro, Watford or Northampton would be better. Or perhaps SL is planning to move us all to MK same as Wimbledon did?
Cidered i don't know about MK Dons, as he was there as a youngster, and along with a few other youngsters was told they could not afford them, so he left and went to Kilmarnock. Would he want to go back ?
Well I am guessinmg that he knows Sam Baldock pretty well then from his MK Dons days which could be very useful in persuading him to come here....
He's played 19 times this season (I think the wikipedia paragraph was written just after the cup final) - he's scored 6 goals
Because we cant afford them What worries me is that Del seems to think you can be successful by upgrading your attacking options without bothering on building the defensive aspects of the team. Surely this season so far has taught him something
