Fantastic. I'm off to read Clive's report. '' I am just going on to another board, but fear that I may be some time.'' Captain Lawrence Oates - On reading the Charlton v QPR Match report on Loftforwords.
That is actually a fantastic account of the days proceedings. Clive is bang on the money here with a very insightful view of Saturdays game. I personally can't fault it.
Agree with you Nines. My Missus looked over my shoulder while I was reading it and asked what it was, I told her it was Saturday's match report and she said disparagingly "That's a lot about nothing!"...Ouch...
I read this without realising that it was the JRR Tolkein of internet football scribbling. Then, as I was finishing part one - 'The Earth Cooled' - I sussed it. Could someone tell me what the key point was? He started off with an impassioned plea not to change managers every 5 minutes, then seemed to describe how crap and out of control everything is, with no hope of improvement under witless management. His obsession with Tom Carroll and puberty continues I notice. Careful Clive people will talk.......
god...that took for ever.... I cant remember any of it now and I'm off to cut myself in the hope i return to normality!
A decent write up from Clive A realistic summary of our current predicament and now the club have some decisions to make. I personally would see it out with Harry till the end of the season. People were calling for Allardyce's head at WHU but now he's won 4 on the bounce. I'd much rather change things at the end of the season, make a quick appointment and give the manager sufficient time to evaluate the squad, bring in his own players and put some emphasis on our youth team actually producing some players. Steve Gallen needs to be informed that he should be expected to produce players for our first team, not other clubs. If they're not developing players then what are they actually doing? Bring in a manager who plays a specific formation for our 1st team which is then copied by ALL our youth teams.
It may not suit the sound bite mentality of some on here but I think this is an excellent article and, personally, I agree with most of what he says. Me, I enjoy reading about QPR and to get analysis of this quantity and quality is a rare treat. A fantastic piece of work for which I am very grateful.
Those that object to the length of Clive's articles should probably stick to the one sentence summaries you can find in the Daily Star. This is a fantastic perspective on the game and the state of QPR generally not just a simple match report and as ever there is tons here for those of us who want to exercise the grey matter to mull over. I must admit I can't accept his blinkered evaluation of Tom Carroll week after week. A useless trier is still useless and is every bit as harmful to our chances as the many journeymen we continue to endure. It is doing both him and QPR no good at all continuing to hope he will come good this season.
01:18 AM - 01:52 AM. It only took you just over half an hour Nines. You're a bloody fast reader! She ain't wrong there Will do mate. I've just asked the boss for the next two days off
I enjoy reading Clive's ramblings, it gives those of us who are overseas a bit more of an insight as to what is happening.....unlike yesterdays Sunday Times which didn't even carry a match report in the Irish version....... Maybe Clive should be a bit more critical in his programme notes that are somewhat sanitised.......
The paragraph on Jenas is fantastically accurate. If you don't like Clive's stuff, why make snide comments about them rather than just avoiding them?
