All, I followed you here from 606 and log on daily but never post. Well here goes. I went to my first game in 74. I have some great memories of promotion and the like and some awful ones too. Most of all despite my absolute passion I have spent almost 40 years ( I can't be that old!) watching mediocrity at best. The only real exception being the Quinn/Phillips Era. As I log on daily and read about signing after signing including names like John O' Shea I really have to pinch myself. I might have other priorities in life now like 3 kids, 2 dogs and a totally uniterested Mag supporting wife, but the inner excitement never wains. Might this be the most exciting time for my club in my lifetime ( 1973 excepted). I really think so. I still think there is more business to be done but to be honest I am a very happy man now. Bring on the new season. Those of you that are a lot younger may never really understand what it has truly been like to be a Sunderland supporter.
It's a wonderful time mate. As a 31 year old, bar 3 seasons under Reid, mediocrity is nowhere near descriptive enough for the dross i've experienced, so this is a great moment. For all that it seems to have kicked on now, it's 5 years in the making, the foundations are solid, and now with O'Shea, Sessegnon, Gyan etc, the walls are built, and the roof is watertight. All we need is a flash new porch, and a nice motor on the drive, i think they are on course for completion well before the 13th August. We Are Sunderland, and isn't this a great time to say it?
Thanks Cyprus, You have become a bit of a legend. We all look out for your posts along with one or two others and perhaps I just might partake a little more. My missuus is out now and I have my 3 kids and one more . ( when did women get rights!). but it gives me time to log on and catch up with the days news. Just hope the little bu**** haven't found any matches whilst I ignore them.
This forum is made for people like you mate, you down in Kent and you know we have fans all over the world. This is our bit of Sunderland, daft, serious and some times just a shoulder to cry on.
Ahhhhh, giz a cuddle Syd me old mucka..... Spot on though, it's a great article, i just love seeing our fans getting excted and positive again, it's long overdue.
Haway aboard man, we're not that bad on here, aye we have the odd falling out but we still family. My bird is from owa there as well, but couldn't give two ****s about football. She would rather suck cock for ninty minutes TBH.
Dorset, I'm ****ing telling ya mate, this coming off the drink is all bollocks. Can't ****ing sleep, would normally be in me **** pi now but I just cannot get owa. Janie just come back tonight, got the kids in bed, gave her one but cannot sleep. She in the land of nod so nee, "stop you clickcking on that ****ing keyboard mam, spend more time atop of that than you do of me" sort of ****e she usually comes out with. Missed her though, when she was away. But **** me man, you can only cuddle a sleeping bird for so long! This sober thing is getting right on my big knacka's!
'Chunkyisms' I like it Syd I have to say that there are some real characters on this forum that provide me with my daily dose of laughter. I reckon we could get enough of em together to fill a full episode of 'Live at the Apollo'. I would pay good money to see that. How do you fancy being the Compare Syd?
