Don't be swayed by the media. On minute you are the belle of the ball, then they get bored and you are the biggest munter in the place. Specially if a luvvy gets crocked by one of your larkers, or you beat Arsenal or Newcastle. Looking forward to a lot less media hype this time round.
Understand the limitations of and need to learn quickly of your manager, coaching staff and players. Get value for money with your signings. Relegation clauses in contracts. Don't feel the need to chase the dream. Don't be wummed by the fans of other bigger clubs because most of them don't go to games. Refuse to be a 'breath of fresh air' and everyone's 'second side'. Remember where you came from and don't boo your own players.
Wrong decision was arrived at by illegal means. It wasn't a pen, but play restarted with a goal kick despite the ball coming off their player.
This. We made many mistakes last time, but with our current owners, the possibility of that happening again is slim to zero. That doesn't mean we'd stay up, it just means that if we didn't, we wouldn't be completely screwed.
We had the wrong people in charge (ie. CEO-Duffen and manager Brown) and they over spent on rubbish overall. Dont overspend is the clear message. Better to get relegated with money in the bank and go again with the parachute payments than Stick it all on Red.!! That is what we learned and almost the hard way. IMO, The PL is not has hard as it was last time out. I fully expect Hull and Cardiff (with the right squad additions) to be able to do what Southampton and West Ham have done this season. Congratulations on your promotion and I hope with fingers crossed that Burnley will win saturday to keep the title open for at least another week.
The Villa penalty decision was correct. But Barmby's disallowed goal was the Fix of the game. Even Villa thought it was a goal. Spot on re. Liverpool game. Turner was mugged twice. Only @ the KoP and Old Trafford do refs bottle it so badly.
Jimmy Bullard? If he had not suffered the 2nd injury would have been regarded as one of the shrewdest ever buys.He would imo have been an asset to the world cup squad as a squad player. He got injured so you know the story. We will discover again that we have to pay extra to get players to Hull. Then the linch mob will be baying for the manager and chairmans blood. Swansea are an exeption to the facts of Prem survival but I confidently predict they will be rattling around in an over sized stadium within 5 years.
To be honest I don't think we need that many players if we go up. I think the nucleus of the team we have now plus a few additions would be able to keep us above the relegation zone. We obviously need to make our loanees permanents like Elmo and Stockdale, maybe Gedo and Fathi as well. We would probably need at least another centre back as Faye might not be up to PL footy and of course we need someone to bang in the goals. For some reason City have a problem with strikers.
We went on to London after Ipswich for a few days and did a tour of the Emirates on Monday - their ground is fantastic! (agree with the rest tho)
Funny how Hunt got 'injured' soon after his head got turned by Wolves in the January and we wouldn't agree a knock-down fee wasn't it?
Funny how he had his foot in a massive boot thing for 6 months as well. You're right it was all pretend.
Fair enough if that's true - I didn't see that at the time. What can I say? - I can be a cynical bastard at times - especially when it comes to "player power" in the premiership - not entirely without reason though - in general like....
They were the least wrong people in 104 years. Let's hope the present manager and owners can at least match their fantastic achievements.
If Jimmy Bullard doesn't get hurt, Hull doesn't get relegated. Still, the roster could have been managed better.
