Has to replace Ward? I'm not saying we get rid of Ward completely but Barnett was dropped for less than this. It's probably better for Ward too, because I shudder to think what van Persie will do to him otherwise!

Why would you not get rid of him totally? I would it's clear he isn't good enough for this level.

Russell Martin is a better centre back than Ward, and he's only started playing there this season!

    It is fair to say
    He had an off day
The good Ward, but so did the rest,
    On all their attacks
    You could see the cracks
Appearing, when put to the test

    R. Bennett´s still young
    And his time will come
But today he was out of his depth,
    The centre back pair
    We need to repair
I´m sure Lambert P will take steps

    Ayala and Zak
    Those two at the back
I thought looked the best, when both fit,
    Not trying to find
    Excuses here, mind
But there´s where we´ve been badly hit.

Yep, poor old Wardy had a shocker yesterday and I dare say his confidence is going to take a hell of a battering as a result. It is a shame as I really like him for his efforts last season but perhaps he is one of the players that needs to move on to continue his career.

Of course there is a chance Leon could be equally as vulnerable against the likes of RVP so may not be any better. I will watch the Gunners game, peeking through a small gap between my fingers, I am sure it is not going to be pretty for us and hope to be proved wrong.

Yesterday once again proved we're not strong enough in this area, too many sloppy mistakes we want our players to be sharp. Ward constantly played Suarez onside tactical awareness and positioning was poor.

I think Drury will probably not be back for next game, he walked straight off the pitch and looked pretty uncomfortable doing so. Literally, unless we play Simon Lappin at LB (Against Walcott!!!) We have to play two of Barnett/Ward/Bennett. Bennett has also been poor these last three games, but people are making exceptions for him because he is young and he has at least been impressive elsewhere in the season. For me Ryan Bennett is out of his depth at the moment, but I think for at least the Arsenal game Barnett has to replace Ward.

Ward is a very good defender in the air, but no matter who you are playing there is no excuse for being beaten as consistently and as easy as he has been by Aguero/Suarez. I think van Persie is a better player than both.

Oh good, only the small matter of Oxlade Chamberlin I guess, but at least he's not so fast.

That will be a fun back pairing, Barnett and Bennett. Might have a bit of a headache by the end though!
