Anybody who may be interested 12 minutes of match video from the legends game yesterday. http://www.itv.com/news/west/2012-0...nd-bristol-rovers-legends-play-charity-match/
Bloody hell Clark's pies must be doing well. I thought they'd be struggling since Trundle and Lambert left town...
I was lucky enough to play in this game, though unfortunately I don't really appear in any of the action in this video - it's pretty much the first 15 minutes and then cuts immediately to Roberts' penalty, whereas I was only on for a short while both sides of half-time (except at the end with everyone on the pitch of course!). Great day despite the weather, and have to say Jamie McAllister in particular is a top bloke.
Did you play for City or Rovers Nick? my son played for City.. Its ok I got it now! I remember it was City.. we met.
Yes, I think I introduced myself to you by hitting you with my giant sportsbag! Is your son part of the City youth set-up or something? Not only was he good but he seemed to be known by some of the players.
He plays for The Weston super Mare academy and has played in the legends game before. he's only 16 so playing with those guys in front of a 3k plus crowd must have been nerve wracking, (I used to get butterflies on a saturday morning playing local rubbish) so its a good experience for him. he features a lot on the video so thats good. It was a great day, I hope you enjoyed the experience too.
Yeah it was great, just wish I could've stayed on the pitch longer as I was buzzing - scoring would've made the day complete. Only real sniff I had was early in the 2nd half when I headed a cross from the edge of the area, but Martyn was well placed and it was an easy take for him. Even now I'm thinking if it had been a bit lower I might've been able to chest it down and be in one on one... Did you buy your sons place in the charity auction? I was lucky enough to win the Evening Posts competition, but it was such an experience I think I may bid to play again next year (money permitting!).
We support that particular charity as much as possible and the guys running it are friends too, I have played golf with David May from Man Utd and met various other celebs at events. that game is growing in popularity now though so there will be a big demand next year, get in early. All good fun.
By the looks of it they're doing another event at Coalpit Heath later this month - obviously a bit more low key but Mark's trying to get a few of the same faces from both sides along to that as well.
