This website has some interesting stats on premier league left backs, 3 of which weve been linked, and the other 2 being the supposed best LB's in the league.

    http://www.anfieldindex.com/2685/liverpool-fc-transfer-scouting-stats-left-backs.html

Of course, stats dont always tell the full story, and i'm sceptical about what they consider as 50-50's, but makes for interesting reading.

My personal preference would be Baines, but I dont think we could get him unless the owners really want him and are willing to spend £20m. Clichy would be a very good option if Arsenal are willing to sell to us.

Im amazed at Clichy's stats. Out of defense and attack I would consider him to be a worse defender, but apparantly not.

Jesus christ, who is recording this stuff? Enrique stats look ok considering the team he is in. I think I would take him over clichy. Baines is a great left back but that wont happen. Such a shame we never got to see the best of Aurelio as I believe if he could play every week his stats would match these guys.

I reckon one will be signed as it has been a problem area for a while.
    Aurelio is unreliable.
Insua doesn't want to come back.
    Konchesky is useless.
We need experienced cover for Jack Robinson.

Agree with all that, Robinson is good cover but we need either Clichy or Enrique as starting LB I suppose it's down to the fee.

I'd have Clichy. He's a proven Premier League left-back and I believe excellent value at £5M.

It would be Clichy for me too.

Hasnt been that amazing recently, but he is young and proven.

What happened with your bid for Clichy? Heard about you making one last week but nothing to do with whether we accepted it or anything.

Hope you do accept it. What are your thoughts on this bit of speculation?

Likely to be sold because he wants to leave but I don't know if Wenger will sell to you. Doubt price will be much of an object as he won't cost more than 10 mill, but then again Wenger is extremely good at getting good prices for his players (except Henry).

What you make of Gervinho possibly coming in? fits the bill? A player you don't really need?

If he is to be bought as an improvement on the backup players (Rosicky etc) we already have then I will be happy. However he is probably being bought as a 1st team player for us and that makes me unhappy because I don't think he is good enough for that. Looks like another case of Wenger being jewish (and there is nothing wrong with that at all :) ) with his money when we should spend on real quality.

Bold man stating that on here!! haha. Ya, I feel you can do better than Gervinho, just his own teamate even ( Hazard or Sow really). I just don't know why he seems to refuse to splash it out for a top top player.

My view is that if we were really ambitious then we would go for Hazard, not Gervinho. With that type of approach to the transfer market we will not win the title. However I won't get too caught up on it at the moment as the transfer window has only just opened so there is still plenty of time to improve the squad.

Ya, it has been really active for being so early. How about you prize Leandro Damiao away from Spurs? He is good and I rate him, also being Brazilian probably would fit into the Arsenal philosophy quite well.

If your wondering about my interest in the Gunners, was a big Overmars fan growing up so always kept track of him, plus it is hard to hate a team that plays the right way.......even with their moaning manager! =)

Don't know enough about Damiao to argue that we should buy him, he has got a decent reputation though. As for you being interested in arsenal well who could blame you ;)

Don't suppor tthem, but I think every Liverpool supporter was on your side this year to "gun" down United and Chelsea.

Oh and one day we will beat you at the emirates, not sure when but it's coming dammit!

They will probably get a new sponsor and change the name before we beat them there. ;)

Scoring an equaliser in 102 minutes of injury time is probably a better achievement than winning at the emirates I guess. However thats probably due more to our extraordinary capacity to **** up from seemingly unassailable positions than it is to your qualities :)

I really wanted Arsenal to win the league last season above Utd or Chelsea but got so frustrated at the number of times they collapsed. For an Arsenal fan it must be a nightmare.
What can you do about it? You seem to play with the philosophy that it doesn't matter how rubbish you are at defending as long as you pop more in at the other end. Makes for great entertainment but somehow you've got to get more grit in there and close a game down when necessary.

Hmmm, seem to have gone off topic.
Yes, I'd give Clichy a go, but where'd the £10mil come from?
