Was it one of our better games, no, but it certainly was two or three steps up from the Boro game. This was a must win game to keep confidence, attitude and enthusiasm up, with Sheff U winning, just, a loss would've dropped us to third and out of the top 2, and that would then question, and test our confidence, or will to win. Or, would it have been a question of "oh well, the playoff places are still ok". I'm sure we all remember L1, and being 11 points clear, then Norwich caught us and we were fighting for just one point for auto promotion. Last 14 games, and sitting on top creates a lot of pressure, on the players, and on the team as a whole; we need to do what we need to do to stay on top, if we don't, it's Deja Vu. Last 5 games have seen us W2, D1, L2. Norwich have W3, D1, L1. The next four out of five teams have all W2, D2, L1, with the exception of Bristol City W5, D0, L0. Guess whose confidence is sky high at moment. Ayling is closer to his use by date, and he's doing it all by himself, I don't think he's gelled with anyone down right. Roofe is not an attacking mid, he's also on a drought, and his frustrations are showing in his game. Bamford's a bit too casual with his shots and game at moment, I think he has his injury in the back of his mind still. He needs to regain his mental confidence quickly. Some are saying KP had a great game WHERE!....he did a lot of his usual sideways passing, and passing back to the person who passed to him, even in the opponents half, and passed forwards occasionally........where was the impact he brought to game?.........I don't see it. Forshaw is also a good defender, but he drives forward and runs towards the opponents defence with the ball, this puts the opponents on the back foot, and back peddling, which means we are dictating. Harrison had a good game for a change, but one good game and a goal doesn't make him a super player, he needs to keep it going through the last 14 games. I agree with wainmanjoe, Alioski and Harrison were gelling very well down the left, maybe the left is where Harrison needs to play more often, time will tell. Good cross and a good glancing header by Harrison gave us the 2-0 nil lead, however, it was a keeper error that we capitalized on. Had the keeper been doing his job properly, chances are Harrison wouldn't have scored, and the game may well have ended up a draw. A good goal for Jansson on his birthday, and a win, this gives Alioski 2 more assists to his name. It's not over by a long shot, and the pressure is going to increase. A great start to season, a slight falter mid season, now we see if we have the stamina for the run in. Enjoy. Highlights courtesy of Swans TV. Another fans birds eye view Bielsa post match conference Harrison's post match interview. Wainmanjoe Bonus.
Phillips was a machine. Makes everything look so easy and does the dirty jobs well. Critical in our promotion push we just don't tick the same without him.
Thought Casilla was way too much over to his right hand side, in fact within touching distance of his post for Swansea's free kick which hit the outside of the opposite post. So much room to his left. Fortunately for Leeds it was the useless Grimes who took it, but Casilla did much the same thing against Norwich which resulted in a goal, albeit slightly deflected. He gives himself no chance of saving a well placed free kick anywhere near the corner.
So, according to LL's OP, it was not one of our best games, several of the players were crap, and Phillips was the worst of the lot - as usual, it would appear. And apparently Forshaw is much better. If only we'd kept Adryan & Antenucci, eh ...... ?
Fookin hell, watched Bamford getting body slammed was like watching WWF can't believe we never got a pen for that.
We played well as a team and everyone had upped their game. There would always be errors with misplaced passes but we were on topp for a lot of the game. 3 points is what it's all about
KP was solid last night mate, dont know what game you were watching, but he has come on leaps and bounds this season under Bielsa, made things look so easy which maybe clouding your judgement of him, what did you think of casilla' position for their free kick that shaved the post?
And some people think there isnt an agenda from the officials against us mate, you will not see a more blatant penalty appeal than that
Agree with all that. Casilla made me nervous with the free kick. Im the first to say kalvin has done very well Should have trusted whitejocks views on him.instead of my own.
